Blue Fox 001 Posted July 10, 2009 Share Posted July 10, 2009 Has anyone experienced any adverse reactions with dogs on Rilexine? I have a dog here who had his first tablet this morning and this afternoon has been vomiting, is lethargic and not eating. Having done a bit of a search it says to feed the tablets with food if this happens, but dog won't eat. I have not given him tonights tablet as this is the only thing that has changed for him and it seems too much of a coincidence. Do you think it will be OK to leave him overnight and see if he is better in the morning. The closest vet is some 400km away so I don't really want to make a mad dash down there if I am over reacting. I am thinking if it is the Rilexine then we should see marked improvement by tomorrow morning. Anyones thoughts or experiences welcome. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rappie Posted July 10, 2009 Share Posted July 10, 2009 I can't comment on whether it is the cause in your case - however - vomiting is not an uncommon side effect reported for cephalexin (Rilexine). She was very lethargic and didn't want to eat(and she's a Cavalier!) and runny poos but no vomiting. Took about 24 hours for it to get out of her system. I know you can't comment directly on this case but if it is a reaction and he hasn't had tonights dose should I see a marked improvement tomorrow do you think? Blue Fox 001 Posted July 14, 2009 Author Share Posted July 14, 2009 Just in case anyone was wondering I thought I would give you an update on the dog. By the next morning he was back to his normal self, no vomiting and so much happier, no lethargy at all. I rang the treating vet but unfortunately she had gone on leave, so rang the next clsoest vet and they suggested an alternative (amoxycillan) and some pain killers (meloxicam I think) which I could get from the chemist.
