Levi
I am sort of thinking about entering a CCD trial (or maybe not ) and was reading through the requirements. I used to trial many moons ago and used to call my dog's name for the recall then pause and call 'come'. I have never done this with Bindi and she comes to either her name or the word 'come'. I would really rather not confuse her by training her to stay when I call her name and come when I call 'come'. Do I have to use her name in a trial or can I just call 'come'? FHRP
No, you don't have to use the dogs name, you can use your recall word only. Like you said, if you do choose to use their name, there must be a pause before the 'come'. Edited July 7, 2009 by FHRP

Jigsaw
I was told the other day that if the dog is looking at you and paying attention you don't need to use their name just "come". If the dog's attention has wandered you can use their name to refocus them to you and then use the command "come".
