Problem With Food

So i have been feeding my pup advance.

I have my eye on what I will be changing to but for the moment he is still on his breeders diet.

Anyway, he wasn't eating with all that much enthusiasm so I have been putting some cubed ecopet on top of his dry food.

which he loves.

But recently he has been kind of crying when he eats it, but only the ecopet.

I am not sure if he is eating it to fast or what.

He has had zero behavioral changes.

But he did a very strange poo. Almost like sawdust.

but he was happy as ever after.

Anyway, This only happened over the past 24 hours and I am no longer feeding him the eco-pet NO FEAR.

And if it happens again with tonight's normal meal it will be straight to the vet.

But I am just looking for WHY this happened.

If anyone knows or has had something similar happen.

He has been having chicken necks every couple of days.

That might be causing his constipation.

Might lay off both for a bit.

Ecopet isa meat roll.

It is ok. No preservatives.

Does stink though.

IGs have a habit of eating way too fast and then crying/screaming whne they get indigestion as it goes down.

Mine also did the sawdust poos on ecopet. I think it has something t odo wit hthe fibre in it.

Try cutting it up into really small cubes like bitesize pieces that he cant gulp down, or a big lump he has to chew on.

Perhaps keep more of the natural foods and get rid of the processed ones? Dry foods can give dogs constipation, which is what your puppy seems to have at present. Upping the moisture content of the diet is easy if you add the right ingredients. Choose meatier bones (eg chicken wing pieces instead of necks), and add some oil to the food (canola, cod liver, salmon body, all are great oils to add). Also add raw vegetables (processed in a juicer, you want the pulp with a small amount of the juice) and fruits (same process). Avoid citrus, onions and potatoes and use tomatoes and capsicum sparingly.

You can also introduce different types of bones from different animals - try lamb neck pieces or ribs/flap (if pup is prone to tummy upsets, ensure fat is trimmed first), turkey necks or wing pieces, beef bones (all different kinds to try including tail, ribs, backbone), roo (tail is popular and many dogs love it), or pork. If rabbit is available in your area, try that too!
