Elfin
This is probably a very stoopid question, but why do pup's ears go crazy when they are teething? Yesterday our pup looked like a Beagle; today she looks like a GSD with one ear on backwards.

all that glitters
I think I heard it has to do with calcium.. the cartilage in the ears need calcium to stand, but during the teething stage the calcium is involved with that process, and so isn't readily available for the ears... and so they go up down up down.. something like that anyway :p
Elfin
Thank you, Shellectra. :p That seems to make sense. So is her diet lacking calcium, or does it happen to most pups?
Shazzapug
It happens to all pups. :p
Guest Clover
So is your pup a Beagle or a GSD? :p.

Parkeyre
I think she's a deerhound? going by the OP's previous posts. Edited June 21, 2009 by Bonnie Parker
all that glitters
It happens to most pups! Nothing to worry about at all, some have more crazy ears than others. My German Shepherd had up/down ears in the first month I had her, but now shes 4 months old and they have been super straight and perfect for over a month.. not sure if it will stay that way but i hope so! lol
Elfin
Her pedigree papers say she is a deerhound, but today, she has ears like a kelpie! They are SUPPOSED so be small and folded back. (Kinda like a greyhound) Thank you for all your replies, I will stop worrying now! :p
sparkycat
My vet explained that the large nerve that services the ears passes very close to the back teeth so as the teeth come through the ears go up and down. Aren't deerhound pups beautiful and fugly at the same time.
