Guest Pandii
Dante (rotti) has a small lump, about pea size on her back, off to one side of her spine, its rather hard and rounded Seems to have only appeared in the last day or so Any ideas on what it could be Thanks
Clyde
Nope. George gets various lumps under the skin. Each time I take him to the vet immediately for a definitive answer. Best to do it asap 'just in case'.
Guest Pandii
What does the vet say about georges lumps
Kirty
Maisie had one just like you describe and in the same spot. The vet did an aspiration and it was a fatty lump. However, she had three other fatty lumps (including one nasty one that was wrapped around muscle) so when we had the bad one removed, the vet just took them all off. Clyde
What does the vet say about georges lumps We have them aspirated. I suggest you do the same thing. Lumps can be any matter of diagnoses, what George has is probably completely different to what your dog has. Although, I do recommend getting a second opinion if the diagnosis is cancer. One vet said his face lump was a Mast Cell Tumour - when it wasn't. You really need to see a vet, not online opinions. Let us know how you go, fingers crossed it's nothing sinister
Guest Pandii
She is booked in for her yearly check up soon, will call the vet and get her appointment brought forward heres hoping its just a cyst or fatty lump Thanks, it was a suprise to find a lump on her, and its sad Edited June 20, 2009 by Pandii
Tilly
My GSD had a pea sized lump on his side ... when he went in for stitches (cut his leg) a couple of days later the vet removed the lump at the same time. I told the vet if it was cancer then I didn't want to know ... and when he didn't say anything I then began to worry. I think I lasted about 3 days before I called the vet to discuss ... and he forgot to mention that is was just a fatty lump and nothing to worry about. Scared the hell out of me... gemstone
Hi Pandii I hope the lump is nothing to worry about its good you're getting it checked straight away - good luck
puggy_puggy
Could be an infected hair follicle. Fatty lumps are usually not that hard and are movable.
Guest Pandii
Thanks, it is hard, its like someone has put a pea under her skin, rang the vet and they are going to call me back monday and see what they can do about fitting us in
~Anne~
I'd get it checked. Boofy, one of my Pugs, had a small wart like lump come up only recently'on his leg. I had it checked and even though the Vet didnt think it was a Mast Cell Tumour, I asked him to remove it anyway as Boof needed a teeth clean and they could do it at the same time and I would rather have it gone *just* in case. It WAS a Mast Cell. I am so glad I said to remove it anyway.
tlc
Hi Pandii, Hope it turns out to be nothing with Dante, or at the very least nothing serious. Which vet do you go to? Mine are always very accomodating on the spur of the moment occasions and usually fit me in right away. I guess with it being Saturday you would have to pay an opening fee to get them to see you strait away. I think mine have Saturday morning appointments?? Good Luck!! Guest Pandii
They could of seen her today TLC, but if I wait until monday my Vet will call and let me know when he can fit her in, some vets like a Rotti muzzled before they will touch them, I prefer a vet that knows her
PandaGirl
My girl just had a lump taken off, the vet said it was a infection to a small cut she'd had.
Staffyluv
Pandii get it aspirated - nothing like those two little word - fatty lipoma... You can never be too sure and the alternative is very expensive (take it from one who knows)...
Munchin
Hi Pandi, Try not to worry., though its easier said than done. I have just been there literally on Friday. I have to have all Zaks cut off (skin cancers, they were starting to scab and now he lookes like he has had a tummy tuck with all the stitches), but the other lumps the vet wasnt worried about. I had them cut off about 4years ago after finding like what you described and it turned out to be just a fatty thingy. There was one that was harder and they sent it off for testing and turned out to be nothing to worry about. Thinking of you.
Guest Pandii
Thanks Munchin, its a bit tender and she is a bit grumpy so sooner it gets checked out the better I think
