Lizzy06
Hi All Has anyone been to Dr Barbara Fougere? I came across her on a holistic Vets NSW website and was thinking about having a phone conversation with her for a nutrition consultation for Lizzy. I cannot get her to see them as i live a couple of hours away. It will be expensive so i'm a little unsure unless i here she is good. I have spent so many $$$ and i cannot afford to waste anymore if it doesn't help. Thanks all

I was lucky that none of my dogs were experiencing any dramas. I wanted them titre tested and no one in Canberra was doing it when I went to see Dr Fougere. She gets people bringing their dogs to see her from all over the state.

Staffyluv
Is that Barbara from all Natural Vet Care in Russell Lea? (sorry can't remember her last name) If so I have had the good fortune to speak with her a few times but mostly dealt with Sue (who I believe has moved on)... Ollie was treated for Mast Cell Cancer - our vet used to send all reports to the ladies up there (we are in Canberra) and they would talk to me via phone and treat Ollie by sending him what he needed to help him through the chemo and keep him well... He is still here more than 3 years post dxd and they originally said he would onl live 12-18 months...

Perhaps poodlefan can advise us? That is excellent to here Ollie has has gone so well!!! sounds promosing. She is overseas at the moment but she said she will talk to me when she gets home and if need be she will discuss things with Lizzys current vets etc. Apparantly there a 4 vets at the clinic. Di*
Thanks poodle fan.If anyone has any good stories to share on a d og with health issues that she has help sort out or under control via nutrition please let me know. I take all my critters to her surgery. They have helped me manage my chi x's luxating patellas with physio, chiro and acupuncture. So far we've avoided surgery. I also like that there is the option of having dental work (teeth cleaning) done without a general anaesthetic--good for the calmer animals and that they can offer alternative perspectives on a range of standard veterinary practices e.g. vaccination. Barbara and a number of the other vets have also been very helpful with many of my fosters. Di

Helped with diet and supplements and also offered some anti cancer supplements as well. I originally wanted something to help keep him well when he was going through chemo but ended up with so much more assistance - was fantastic. No cancer treatment is 'cheap', so yes it was expensive but certainly no more than my conventional vets fees with his treatment... They did have access to all of Ollie's results from all the tests done by my vet - he used to fax them and the reports and advice from the oncologist too. Her Majesty Dogmad
I've been there with quite a few of my dogs and had phone consults about one who was very nervous about going in vets but he'd also been there previously anyhow. They are fantastic, I've had good results esp with the use of CHinese herbs for kidney problems and my Italian Greyhound's dementia. I also had a dog who had a total collapse and we went there and got herbs, acupuncture and chiro work done, we went twice a week for a while and then gradually over 3 months, it got less and less. My dog was walking by then! Had good results from the chiro work with several dogs. It is expensive but one dog lived a year longer than expected in great health and my dog who collapsed, has been running round for months, thanks to them. It isn't cheap but sometimes it can be a last resort, it has saved 3 of mine from being euthanased. Can't recommend them highly enough!

Danois
I saw another vet at the clinic with a dog with immune mediated issues. Unfortunately in my case, it was too hard to tell whether the treatment was working as we had to keep him on the traditional drugs too. No harm in trying. I have already spent thousands and thousands so whats an extra few hundreds i guess! Do they stay on the herbs for ever or just a short period of time? I have the biggest smile on my face. Mags
Another huge fan of the vets and staff at All Natural though I have had my cats there not my dogs and we are 2hrs drive one way and we have not regretted any of our many visits to that clinic. Barbara Fougere was wonderful with Aub when she was treating him for his auto immune disease after conventional medicine could do nothing for him. And I can not speak highly enough of Joanna Milan she has been wonderful with our Orijen affected cats who could not tolerate conventional medicines - if it wasn't for Joanna we would have lost all our affected cats. And what I have found is these vets are good conventional vets who found conventional medicine did not give all the answers so they have added other therapies to their skills and they are truly holistic - they are also very willing to work with your regular vet. Her Majesty Dogmad
Mags is right, these vets get all the tests from my vets and converse with them as well about the dog so you get the all round view.
