Can We Please Use Your Hydrobath?!

Rather than the bath I would be looking for shops to take her to. She had probably forgotten the bath by that stage. Petstock Lilydale have a bath. Pet Goods Direct at Chirnside don't have a bath but are super animal friendly. I would go into such a shop, tell the staff what happened and hopefully they will make such a fuss of your pup that she will be fine. I would go somewhere today.

We are in the Caulfield area.

I stopped into a bottleshop that knows me well () on the way home from KCC Park just now, and she was fine in the shop.

I would take her back to the hydrobath place to show her that it WASN'T that scary, but I don't want slinky-poodle to harass her again, or give those stupid people anymore of my money.

Sorry - I posted but realised it was in the wrong thread :).

But whilst I am here, I will comment that I'm astounded that anyone in any practice that relates to dogs would (a) risk their own dog to unknown dogs and (b) not have any knowledge associated with the affect of aggression/trauma - regardless of physical harm or not.

That person needs to undertake a Dog101 Course. Fast.

ETA: Or to read a good book on the subject, if only to have her eyes opened to the basics so that she can at least know enough to know to prevent the occurrence.

And FWIW, I use the ones in Hobart to bath my show dogs. I have limited tank water (except for now when they are overflowing and I have VERY clean dogs! :)) so find it helpful to use the Trublu Dogwash instead. I use my shampoos and conditioners and rinses and their water. Can add up a bit if you faff around but I tend to get in and do what needs to be done pretty quickly anyway.

And I carry a bottle of Ajax Cleaner/Disinfectant in my car and clean before (and after) I use it.

I highly recommend the Trublu dog wash setups as well!! :)

I use a Trublu dogwash and have done for months....for general bathing of the dogs (I can do two at once as they have chains for two dogs per bath) and more thorough show bathing. The minimum cost is $10 for 10 minutes and it goes up in $2 increments.

I take my own shampoo, although I've heard the one supplied isn't too bad, and I towel dry and bring the dogs home to dry them properly with the doggie dryer.

I tried bathing them in our bathroom, in the bath with a rubber hose attachment.....absolutely useless, the water pressure was too high and it just kept falling off the tap....and under the shower. There was just too much mess and too much wear and tear on the bathroom fixtures to make it a viable option. Big coated dogs means big hairy wet mess to clean up afterwards.

When the Trublu dogwash opened, I thought all my Christmasses had come at once and it's been fantastic. They have a disinfect click on the dial, so I use that first then just use the rinse cycle for the rest of the bath. It's clean, fresh water, not recycled.

Aside from being convenient, they are also safe for having an extra dog there. I used to go to a pet shop and use their hydrobath but if I took two dogs, I had to have an extra person with me as there was nowhere to put the spare dog while I was bathing one.

At the dogwash, it's fully fenced and I can have a dog in the bath and a dog wandering around the little fenced yard and it's perfectly safe. And I can take as long as I need to with towelling them off, and I'm not trying to wrangle one wet dog while trying to stop another one from getting into something he shouldn't.

I have put 2 dogs in there as well at the same time when wanting to do a rinse and blowdry after their swim at the pool. At Woofpurnay if you get a disc from the nurses at the desk you pay $10 but get 12 mins.

I like the fact that they can come out with dry feet if you blow dry long enough- the flooring is the best I have used in any hydrobath. I also disinfect beforehand.

At The Basin car wash (Pars Garage) they have transformed an old courtyard at the front of the service station that was closed off as louts used to hang around there. They now have 2 baths, shade sails, lights, a seating area and it's all fenced off! :)
