Lizzy06
IS it bad for a dog to have a bad heart rate? what reasons could cause it? When i took Lizzy to the vet on Saturday the vet checked her heart and she said it was only 80 beats per minute, this was when she was stressesd as well she said she would have expected it to be about 120. When she settled she chekced it again and it had dropped to 70. Just curious whether anyone knows if this is something to worry about? She does suffer from pancreatitias, not sure if there is another underlying condition. But other that than she is slim and otherwie healthy looking
Erny
Lizzy06 - I'm not a Vet so from that point of view, I'm no expert. There could be many reasons for your dog's low heart rate. Is your dog well, overall? How old is she? What reason/s did your Vet suggest? Was your Vet concerned? And if so, did your Vet suggest any treatment, either now or in the future? Kirislin
I think my dogs would have very low heart rates, certainly lower than 60, I haven't actually taken them but when I feel them they seem to be much less than 1 beat per second, I dont know what a normal rate should be. The vet often comments on how fit my dogs are. Did the vet seem concerned.
