peibe
I have just rehomed a dog that passed a vet check at Renbury but the new owners took her to the vet and she has Luxating Patella which needs urgent vet care They have been quoted $2500.00 which is out of their means Does anyone know a rescue vet in QLD around Brisbane that would do this operation at rescue rates? She is a 12-18 months old Shar Pei
Paula-
Did she go to your vet when you got her out?
puggy_puggy
She's not technically still a rescue if she has been adopted. I would never ask a vet to give me rescue rates on a dog that has been adopted. If her new parents are finacially unable to afford such an operation I would think they could go to places that offer cheaper rates to those that are finacially struggling like the AWL. I know that here in Melbourne Lort Smith will help people out.
peibe
Did she go to your vet when you got her out? She went to QLD for foster and then to the vet up there for a check over She's not technically still a rescue if she has been adopted.I would never ask a vet to give me rescue rates on a dog that has been adopted. I know that here in Melbourne Lort Smith will help people out. They have only had her one day and rang me to return her as they cannot afford that much Under my terms and conditions on adoptions pre-existing conditions are covered under the 3 week trial, her foster carer mentioned an occassional limp, but nothing was picked up at her vet check
puggy_puggy
You would have to be questioning both vets if one doesn't diagnose it as a problem and the other says the problem is drastic and needs immediate surgery. $2,500 sounds like a specalist price. Yes, that does sound strange. How about a third (specialist's) opinion? Could work out a lot cheaper than an unnecessary operation.
