Pet Training St Marys

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Need opinions please. I know my thoughts but I just want to get a broader opinion.

Have a friend about to send their very reactive dog (reactive to other dogs) out to these guy for a 2 week training "intensive". They have stated they use positive training methods but I have some doubts.

I also beleive this will be very stressful for the dog and training the human is just as important to me also.

I could be wrong, opinions please?

Do you know the name of the establishment?

It is very important with any in house training that follow up training is done as well. I am not sure that 2 weeks boarding and training would fix dog aggression issues as a lot of the time it is how the handler is reacting as well that is part of the problem. I have a dog aggressive dog, and it is stressful and at times difficult to remain calm which is necessary as the dog picks up on your stress.

Have you asked if you can go and watch one of their training sessions prior to your friend sending their dog? That way you can judge their training methods for yourself.

If they refuse, I would not be sending the dog.

I thought the only place in St Marys was The Guard Dog Training Centre and you don't want my opinion on them, as it isn't very nice.

There is no way on the good Lord's green earth I would ever send a dog to them.

I can't see how any trainer can "cure" dog aggression within a short period of time without the use of heavy corrections to teach the dog to avoid. This sort of "training" is merely a short term fix and the dogs normally regress ten fold afterward.

Alarm bells should be ringing!!!
