World Dog Games - Agility, Frisbee, Flyball And Dock Dogs

Recommended Posts

The World Dog Games will be shown on Channel 7 on Saturday 19 December at 4pm (check schedule though). It would be fantastic to get heaps of people to watch this show - it should be a fantastic show with fantastic dog sports. (the more people who watch it will show how popular dog sports are and hope the event continues!)

I though he and Le Hammer's Doc were the hits of the show - they were so funny and really entertained the crowd which was Awesome.

Thanks for that, but I would have preferred Doc to be his usual big jumping self, rather than his belief that there were crocodiles in the pool this time - he had to stop and check every time, and we did not really get the opportunity to overcome his condidence crisis. It wasn't the crowd - he works well in a crowd, but something had him thinking. He usually jumps almost as long as Polo.

Shame there wasn't more agility. I was wondering if the agility dogs were a little uncomfortable running on what potentially looked like slippery flooring (astro turf??). Would it have been better to put some sort of rubber flooring down similar to what they use in indoor agility arena's in the USA?

They actully paid a fortune to bring that flooring in from the USA, supposedly the best stuff available. But the dogs in Australia (except a few in SA) have never run on indoor material, so that may have been a factor. That flooring is now being sent to the UK to be used in the World Dog Games (UK).

True, we don't have as many as the US, but there are 2 indoor venues in Melbourne, one in an equestrian area on sand/sawdust or something similar and another on artificial grass.
