Scrotal Chafing After Shaving For Surgery

True, i agree the vet should send home a course of treatment with the dog, if it is showing visable signs of irritation at the time of discharge. Although still dont know that a vet has alot of options re the close clipping and cleaning of the op site for the prepping of surgery etc

Perhaps not with the clipping of the site but when warned of the dogs propensity toward skin aggravation there could have been an alternative used to prep the site. The fact that they claim no record would indicate to me that they knew they had done wrong.

I was thinking the same as Sas, an aloe gel/cream? Natural and cooling.

I'm a bit worried about using the zinc oxide, isn't it hard to clean off? Also, are you still able to see the skin clearly to assess, or does it leave a white residue. Can it make him sick if he does lick at it a bit?

Rub it in well and it only leaves a slight whiteish look to the skin. Easy to clean off.

Your boy shouldn't be licking down here anyway should he? I would suggest an elizabethan collar if he is.
