ILuvAmstaffs
Thanks for that. I actually looked at the D80 because they were doing them for $799 but thought I may as well go a little better & get the D200 as they were selling them so cheap. In regards to lenses, would something like this Tamron 18-200mm be ok to play with until I figure out what I am mostly shooting?
Aubrey
I haven't used it, but for $260 so long as you realize this is going to be a starter lens, i doubt you'd lose much sleep. In fact, if you couple it with a tripod, or with good light, it might turn out to be a bit of a dark horse. You will however need either of them when at 200mm as at f6.3 you are going to need quite a long shutter speed. It might be one I'd add to my camera bag if I was looking to start up again just to get a feel of the camera and working out where to go. If I get rid of the 18-55 and 55-200 in my bag when I get the more high power lenses, I'd get this one for bright days down the beach where I'd need the range and not want to have to swap lenses. If you get it, I'd be interested to hear what you think and see some samples. Andrew
ILuvAmstaffs
Well, I have been having fun "playing" with the new camera, but am still trying to work out all the settings. So far I have only used it indoors of a night in reasonably dim lighting, so am hanging for the weekend to get out & about with it. Diesel is starting get the "oh no, the camera AGAIN" look on his face every time I pull it out.

rocco
Hey ILA. I did use a D200 and it's a great camera. If you need any help just flick me a PM, I might be able to help. I remember when I first got it and it was a bit overwhelming. Just a sneaky note: But I'm selling my D200 (body only) if anybody is interested. I haven't listed it anywhere yet, but will shortly. Nikon is sh!t!!! You didn't miss anything. If you remember a thread I was looking at a new lens? I decided to upgrade my camera instead. Which lens did you go for? Just the Nikon 18-55 VR lens that I was initially looking at. I will get something better over the next few months once I figure out what my needs are, at the moment just getting acquainted with all the functions is keeping me busy.
