Advance And Optimum

I had been feeding Toby my puppy Hill's Science dry and canned dog food, on the recommendation of the vet, but then after reading the responses from many of the posters on this form about Hill's Science, I've done some research and have decided that if I want to buy Premium, I want something better. I have read that the first 4 ingredients on the label are the most important, and that the more straight meat sources in that top 4, the better (do people agree with that)?

So, not liking the Ingredients in Hill's, I spent a while at the pet store today checking out all the premium brands, and the only one with 4 meats in its ingredients list is Advance.

However, the shop also had Optimum, which is a little cheaper, and I have seen in my local Coles, but upon reading that label it is not only manufactured by the same people, the ingredients are identical!!

Does anyone know if they are the same or not?

Optimum is only a slight level down from Advance. Still pretty good stuff though.

Years ago it used to be called Pedigree Principle. It is aimed at the supermarket people who look at the more "expensive" supermarket dog foods. When it was Principle, I used to be able to buy it in 20kg bags. Since changing to Optimum, I could not, so moved over to Advance.

I would give it a go.

Made by the same people but the ingredients wont be the same .That is why one is supermarket & The other premiun.

We cant feed either as it makes our dogs itch & the optium we couldnt maintain weight .

We did use to feed it when it was in the breeders bag size & it was brilliant but pedigree seem to be forever changing the products

I had the same question - it is the same but Advance is made by better quality products.

I have stuck with Advance dry, but in emergencies have cans of Optimum in the cupboard if I dont have anything else (and Sash LOVES it when its emergency days and she gets the canned Optimum - she loves it). :)
