puglvr
Could this possibly be a Mast Cell Tumor? Elly is a pug and has a very short coat and also very pink skin. About two days ago I noticed a "ruffle" in her coat and when I pulled back the hair I found this black spot. It reminds me of a human mole. Her sister had Mast cell tumor cut out of her leg a couple of years ago. I have seached for images of MCT's and can't find anything like this but I'm wondering could it be one in its very early stages. Of course we will go to the vet's and have it checked out but I'm just wondering if people have seen this in their dogs?
benny123
It's not a tick is it? Have you had a look with a magnifying glass?
TerraNik
I have nothing of benefit to add, but I just wanted to say that I hope it's nothing serious.
puglvr
No not a tick, at first I thought it was like an ink spot and then realised that the hair would be a different colour!!!

puggy_puggy
Does look a bit nasty. If it was more brown I would say yeasty type reaction but it is black. Have you had a poke at it? Could it possible be something that has scabbed? Where is it located? I think the most common places in pugs for MCT are neck/chest and hind quaters. puglvr
Been to the vet today, result.... It turned out to be a melenoma and she also had a cyst nearby. She is home happy as larry and asleep at my feet.

Kirislin
Wow, see what comes of people who take notice of their dogs. Well spotted. I am taking two of mine to the vet this arvo. One has a creepy spot that I cant decide if it's just a blood blister or sometning more sinister.
