Joypod
Hi all, I've just ordered some Petz Life Oral Care Gel which is supposed to clean a dogs teeth without having to brush. I know the best way to clean a dogs teeth is to give them a bone but that's not an option for my two for a number of reasons I won't go into here.... long story. Anyway, I was a bit concerned to read on the Petz Life website that they suggest one way of administering the gel was to put it in some peanut butter. Their thinking is that the PB will stick to the dogs teeth along with the gel. Seeing as PB is toxic to dogs, I wanted to find an alternative. This morning in the supermarket, I saw a peanut butter 'substitute' that's made with sunflower seeds instead of peanuts. Would this be safe to give them in small amounts? Thanks. Joypod
Peanut Butter is toxic?uh oh....... my dogs should be dead! The toxicity builds up over time. It's not going to kill them straight away but it ends up damanging their livers.

Hey Joypod I don't bother with peanut butter. Some of my dogs lick it straight from my finger and those that don't I just smear it straight onto the teeth and gum line and then they mix it about from there I think the peanut butter is just a way of getting dogs to accept it if needed. But the dogs get used to the taste after a while and I have the one with salmon oil in and the new stronger version called Vetzlife. You'll love the product, it's great and really works. http://www.naturalpaws.com.au/grooming-tee...roduct-356.html Edited April 15, 2009 by Chocolate
