RubyStar
Dogdude, that sucks Last video for tonight, teaching Ruby backend awareness on a caketin It's a work in progress. Excuse my sucky clicker timing skills.... I'm surprised Ruby's managed to learn anything with her silly mummy
TerraNik
She got better as you went along, RS so she must be learning *something*! hehe I tend to click for the movement rather than the position because they *know* heel position, It's the back leg movement that I want. Just a thought!??!
shoemonster
Husky, when I tripped, molly stayed pretty much in position, I didnt land on my ass or anything just a bit of a hop, so we didnt lose any points for it, she went on to get her 2nd pass and won her ring Terranik, I wish I could be calm about it all, I'm such a stress head Rubystar, I didnt find the last one hard to get, though you do put more pressure on yourself With Ed he did 4 trials, pass, pass, nq, pass (with the first 2 being a double trial) With Molly she did 6, nq, nq, pass, nq, pass, pass (with the first 4 being a quadruple trial and the last 2 being a double) DD, that sucks, and yeah they dont count CCD in HIT either, but then you are a way more experienced handler than me so you dont need CCD!!! Rubystar, that scent descrim is looking awesome!!!
Ptolomy
OK, as requested by Ptolomy, an updated Scent Discrimination video We are still working leather separate to wood and metal because we haven't been doing leather as long... but will try the whole set next time I get them out! Question - do you get penalised for the dog taking a while to find the article even if they don't pick anything up until the right one? You'll see in the second round (wood), she sniffs them all but keeps missing the right one, then fiiiiinally sniffs the right one and bingo! She knows she's found it Hey Rubystar she has come such a long way - well done. You can see her sniffing each article and she knows when she has found the correct one. You don't lose points for the dog taking a while to find it - as long as they keep working. Scoota went through a stresshead stage where he would run out to the pack and just stand there for what seemed like hours he would then start to sniff the pack - I would lose 2-3 marks for this. ness
Shoey I was in the fortunate or unfortunate position of passing in straight trials with my first dog. She got her novice - 4 passes from 4 trials - trialled on the Sat and it was a Sat/Sun double and passed again on the Sunday. She did later fail at the Royal but cos entries had already closed when she had her title we were allowed to compete. That was in the old days where there were 2 novice heel patterns - ewwwwwww. Open we went to WA in 2006 for a three week holiday/training stint and entered there Obedience State Champs and passed - oops didn't think that would happen. We had already entered a trial following week and there was one further trial that closed the week following the states. Any way I decided since we had fluked the states pass I would enter that one. Finished off our CDX in straight trials (and have failed an awful lot since ). UD hasn't been quite as nice to me with no passes yet but hey we did come close in our first trial and she wasn't ready then so I live in hope that one day she will get her act together - having said that I also do need to do some training if I have any hope of a pass . RubyStar
She got better as you went along, RS so she must be learning *something*! hehe I tend to click for the movement rather than the position because they *know* heel position, It's the back leg movement that I want. Just a thought!??! Thanks I am clicking for position now as we've moved past the stage of clicking when she moves her back legs, as this task is also to aid in her left finish and knowing exactly where heel is! Thanks guys! Was a tough one to crack, but I'm confident she understands the game now, but I have to remember to keep practicing so she doesn't forget! Now it's just a matter of tidying it all up
