Guest Willow
Posting on behalf of a friend..... Does anyone know of any boarding kennels in Perth, preferably SoR that accept titre testing? With the ones that do, do you have to have a test done each time you board, or just once a year? (eg if the dogs had to go into boardign three times in one year would you have to titre test each time?)
Lab_Rat
Cant help you out sorry Willow, but I hope your friend finds one. Have they contacted any kennels?? There seem to be heaps in Southern River (kennel zone) area. I am just about to contact my local country obedience club with the same query. Can my dog be a member with titre testing records and not vaccination records. My ridgy is titre tested, but I also want to tt my kelpie, and shes doing the obedience......Wondering how that will go down with Dogs West also??? stormie
I have a question regarding this... someone recently told me that it was a regulation of the companion animals act that boarding dogs be vaccinated with a c5. Is this correct? Because I don't believe they can titre for KC? Hopefully someone can clarify this for me...

No, I visited a lot of kennels before I last used one, and most only wanted proof of a C3 as minimum. Edited April 7, 2009 by ~ArtyFarty~
ness
I was going to say my youngster is from a breeder in WA who runs a boarding kennel and they accept C3 minimum.
monsterpup
Posting on behalf of a friend.....Does anyone know of any boarding kennels in Perth, preferably SoR that accept titre testing? With the ones that do, do you have to have a test done each time you board, or just once a year? (eg if the dogs had to go into boardign three times in one year would you have to titre test each time?) Just wanted to answer about the frequency of the tests. You only need to test once a year for the kennels, just like the vaccination protocol they require. Mine had such high titres and indicators this year that the result sheet suggested testing again in 2 years. (But will probably need to do it again next year for the kennel). Your friend might have some luck with the kennels if she gets a letter from her vet, explaining what the titre tests are, what they show etc, and then takes the lab results in and explains it all in person. That's what I did, because I wanted to use a particular kennel which had not previously dealt with the titre tests. The kennel was fine with it, even though their stated policy was for C5 vaccs. They just want to be sure that both your dogs and the dogs of the other customers aren't at risk. (Have had the dogs in a number of times, now, and very happy with the kennel So the extra running around was all worth it )
Ptolomy
We accept two yearly titre tests.
monsterpup
We accept two yearly titre tests. Wish I lived in WA! That's fantastic. But I guess you were already way ahead of the times with accepting titre tests, anyway? It's not too common here, but I found the kennel I wanted to use very approachable, and fine with it once they were sure that no dogs would be put at risk. Maybe I'll ask them about the 2 yearly tests.
Teebs
Our kennels need a C5, but if you did the Tetre, you can still get the Canine Cough part of the vaccination?
