What To Feeddogs With Yeast Problems

Hi guys ,I'm 99.9 % sure Ralph has a yeast problem , I'm sure those of you that have followed his dramas would agree, he has been to the vet , had scrapings , on antibiotics & phenergan ,I found a site I'm sorry I'm not good with computers

I was reading & ticking off the symptoms -- face rubbing * feet licking & soreness * rash on belly & legs * redness in ears *

discharge in ears , often a brown thick substance with a yeasty odour ( no ) chewing near tail & rectum *red or brown colour between toes & or reddish stain under eyes * ( toes )

So do you guys think he has a yeast problem ??

foods to cut back on === all grains , including rice & pasta

starchy vegies , eg carrots, potatoes, yams ,winter squash ,corn , peas

organic apple cider vinigar -- which is alkaline while white vinigar is not

large amounts of dairy products

fruits

for those who feed commercial dry ,add raw or very lightly cooked meat ,canned salmon or mackeral, eggs ,small amounts of whole milk yoghurt ,& fat such as salmon oil

the surprising thing it says is to stop giving flaxeed oil :rolleyes:

acceptable vegies are celery ,zucchini, broccoli ,dark leafy greens ,cabbage , cucumbers ,& bok choy

by the way my vet did not know about any elimination diet for yeast problems - which I was a bit worried about I thought it was obvious !!!! :rolleyes:

It's pretty simple, really.... feed your dog with food his body is designed to use..............

MEAT and BONES and OFFAL, and oily fish and eggs and a smattering of green veg and yogurt....

Some dogs with cereal allergies react to flaxseed oil.

You can use fish oil instead.

My Zedley had a 'yeast' problem. Very itchy (would bite until he bled), smelled of yeast, itchy ears, red fur around toes. After a couple of years on and off various drugs it was discovered that he had a low thyroid problem. Since being put on Thyroxine his itchies have gone, he no longer smells of yeast and is much happier. Pror to this I did the various diet eliminiation things, various wonder shampoos. I did find that he is actually allergic to oats . His first thyroid was missed as one number was high and the other was normal, however, the vet (a year down the track) checked with the laboratory and discovered that his heart rate was low, this together with low thyroid first number indicated low tyroid funtion. This may be worth a mention to your vet.
