gsdog2
Did no one see the mess my puppy made?? I put pics up... Terrible time trying to clean it up while he played in it...And then this morning he had a few balls in his poo's... So will have to watch him to make sure they dont cause him harm... As far as holding dogs down to have them submit... I think there is a time and a place. Dog culture is very diffrent to humans and do need to be treated a diffrent way. Of course if you dont agree with how your puppy is being treated you have every right to stop whatever is happening and deal with the consequences, (which could be many diffrent things including good and bad) Anyway.. We really should talk more bout Mr Fluffy :P:P:P:P:P Saw the photo bobchic It might look funny but you need to be careful - those tiny beads are easily inhaled. Sorry to be a party pooper but it always scares me when I see photo's with either a dog or child sitting in the middle of the beanbag beans as it can be quite dangerous. And you're right I'm really sorry to have hijacked your thread regarding the lovely Mr Fluffy - I won't do it again Edited March 26, 2009 by gsdog2
SmoothieGirl
I am very likley to forget to give a heart worm tablet in time. probly best in my circumstance to give the needle...But poor puppy has to deal with the pain How did everyones dog cope with Micro chipping? Are they sore for long after? I am going to have it done at the final vaccination. I didnt want to go overboard for the first vet visit.. (ps.. are there problems with the heart worm needle?) Hi Bobchic Hope you are having a great time with Mr Fluffy this weekend. One thing to consider with the microchip is to wait until you have him desexed, I assume you are going to have him desexed. Then it will be done at the same time and under a general, he won't know its even happened. More to the point, he will have 'other' things or lack thereof on his mind afterwards. This is what my vet suggested for my kitten. She came back from the vet the same night shaved, but otherwise unaware that she should have been taking it easy, little nutcase. Of course this also means that he will not be microchipped possibly for some months yet, so it is a risk if he does get lost or heaven forbid 'nicked'. I've had experience assisting a vet microchip a six month old filly, about 180kgs worth of muscle, and it was an experience I can tell you, but that mare is still a total cow, so probably more her temperament that her reaction to pain. Good luck!

Just Midol
So Midol I am still waiting for your answer to what you would do if someone, many times larger than you, came up to you speaking in a foreign language, asking something of you and when you don't comply you are grabbed by the collar and forced to the ground and held there until you say Uncle? I'm not a dog. Anthromorphising is a bad idea. I suggest you don't do it I don't hold pups down to 'submit'. Dominance and submission is not what i am dealing with when guiding pups and inexperienced dogs. So if a dog has a tantrum you let it go?
Cosmolo
No Midol- thats not what i said. But 9 times out of 10 a puppy having a tantrum is not being dominant. And a puppy that guides perfectly is not necesarily submissive.
Just Midol
When I say I am waiting for it to submit I mean I am waiting for him to relax and accept that he isn't going to be let go, I'm not talking about submitting in a dominance sense. I hope that makes sense Edited March 31, 2009 by Just Midol
bobchic
Anyone here from Melb going to the Pet day on this Sunday? Its in Ferntree gully or something like that... I was thinking of having Mr Fluffy microchipped there.. $20 seemed alright... (of course I will only do it if everything looks sterile etc) Any tips on the pooping and weeing inside?? I have been taking him outside everytime he wakes from a sleep to do wee's (which 9/10 he does) and I keep him outside for 20mins after a meal. When he is inside the door leading outside is always open. And yet he goes to about 4 diffrent spots to do poos and sometimes I find wet patches which are an obvious wee... What should I do? I try to keep in him the garage while im at work. But when Im home, and I try my very best to watch him and stop him going in the house, he still manages to find a way.. What can I do?? My house is getting smelly (funny story... I scrubbed the floor with a viniger and water mix to help get rid of the smell.. Mr Fluffy came up and drank the mix.. After two licks he started sneezing lol... Then he went back for more!! Silly puppy)
WreckitWhippet
Microchips come in their own individual packets. They are not administered by way or reusable needle. Any authorised chipper will implant a chip exactly the same way a vet would. If he's kept all day in the garage, he's now used to toileting in a place that is basically like your house. Build him a secure run outside, with adequate shelter and give him some fresh air, sunshine and a place to toilet other than where he lives and sleeps. bobchic
He used to have the run of the house and unlimited access to the outside world but would still toilet inside. Its only in the last few days we have put him in the garage for a few hours (maybe 5 at most.. usually 4hrs till my bf wakes up from night duty) and then he is back inside the house with run of the back yard. So we have attempted to teach him toilet outside. Its just come to the point where it is making our home smell/stink. Its only the times we are out or unable to supervise him that he is put in the garage.. If we are home and awake he is in the house.
