ness
Way to go biker_girl and others. A brag from me for my old girl, Ness from our end of year club prizes. Ness finished up the year with the award for top untitled masters agility dog but to equal that performance she also finished up with top titled CDX. Ptolomy - I owe you a huge thanks and you know I wouldn't have managed that without your support this year so thanks mate. Thanks also to Rivsky for all her help with running through various things and putting out articles or gloves when I have asked :nahnah: . Fingers crossed for Riv's CDX is 2010 . RubyStar
Congrats biker girl! Rally-O sounds like fun! Way to go, Ness!!! That is really great, woohoo! You must be so proud! Go Ruby . The SFE is a real bugger isn't it. Yeah SFE is a bugger, especially for wigglebums, but last night I just worked on heeling her around her biggest distraction (anything that moves ) and she did it well Though I want to work on more oomph in her heeling attitude as she tries to overcome distraction! ness
RubyStar if I can get a SFE on my scardy midget dog who won't say boo to a goose I am sure you can get one on Ruby . ETA. Ness thought it very remiss of me to not post that she was also the 2009 winner of the end of year fastest eater competition . Hahah she has no excuse for not doing a blind retrieve cos she was certainly able to mark the bit of food being placed at the end of the ring, race out swallow it whole and then race back with me  . caffy
Though I want to work on more oomph in her heeling attitude as she tries to overcome distraction! Have you tried the high hand touch during your heelwork?
RubyStar
Though I want to work on more oomph in her heeling attitude as she tries to overcome distraction! Have you tried the high hand touch during your heelwork? A little bit. Ruby is very, not sure how to put it, it's like she's got tape stuck to her feet and she doesn't bounce/jump very high without a lot of effort! My other one does high hand touches while she heels, I think she was born with springs in her feet.
ness
know what you mean about Ruby, Ness is the same . Funny though as I would have thought from how you describe her liking to jump all over people that she more bouncy sort.
RubyStar
Jumping on people must be worth the effort You can even tell the difference in the way she carries her weight from when she jumps up on people (geez she sounds like such an untrained dog, really she's not THAT bad!) but when she does jump up in her excitement, she will bowl you over by putting all her weight on you. Millie can do the same, but balances her own weight if that makes any sense.
ness
Yep makes sense RubyStar - maybe you should have used the jump up on cue as a reward for the hand touch .
leopuppy04
My last brag(s) for the year Leo had his first run in Masters Agility and walked away with 1 pass . could have got another one but a refusal was called on one obstacle as he had something in his ear and just *had* to shake his head 1/2 way around the course kinta's handler FINALLY got her timing right and Kinta got a lovely AD pass and her AD title! it was a lovely run so I'm rapt with her. obedience today left much to be desired. we got a whole heap of 0's but the judge was still very impressed with Leo. So I guess you take away the small victories right!? poor petal just couldn't get the sequences in the right order. For the seekback he did the box, for the box he did the seekback, for the second time to the box he took the wrong jump . For the heelwork, he failed to sit on the signal (but until then had only lost 2 points for heelwork !) and for the speak he made no sound At least he got his articles Poor little love - i guess he didn't want to finish the year with a 'bang'!
ness
Congrats on the agility results LP - UD is like that . I think the pass when you least expect it WHENEVER that will be I am still waiting.
Tassie
:D for the agility results LP - well done and congrats to Miss Kinta on that AD title. And Leo definitely should have got extra marks for creativity - as ness says, UD is like that - character building I used to like to think. BIG Congratulations on the agility passes The sequencing issues in UD is a novice dog thing, hopefully with some training over the summer he will come out firing in 2010 - Well done on your years results

Agility Dogs
Well done to everyone - seems the hard work all year is paying off in the last few trials. We inched closer to Xena's games and MAAD titles on Saturday night with a card in the Open Game and card AND A OUR FIRST OPEN STANDARD WIN ;) in Open B jumping. Only one more jumping or agility card and Missy has her Masters Australian Agility Dog title. (6 open or advanced level jumping or agility cards (min 2 agility - we have 4) and 3 games cards - min one gamblers or snooker). Hopefully it will come in the first trial next year! CK continues to be CK. If anyone wants a desexed, but very well bred Border Collie please let me know......... He was really drivey everywhere and ran very nicely, but just didn't want to weave again. Although he did get through the weavers twice out of 3 courses he needed to so I guess we are getting there. The problem is that training last night he was a weaving demon ........go figure. At least we are getting the drive that was missing 3 months ago. Merry Christmas everyone!! Tony, CK and Xena. Tassie
Great news everybody, congratulations!!!!Tassie, Well done for such a successful year! Little Kirra has done a fantastic job, be sure to give her a great big hug from Aunty Bec Will do - thanks for that Bec. I'm really stoked with my little demon bitch - that's 6 titles she's finished off this year. BikerGirl, Good to see the girls still keeping up the pace. I might have to look into this RallyO thingy, sounds like fun. I've only dabbled in Rally O - time is my big issue - but I think it's soething peole can really enjoy and get into. Both Eastern Shore and Hobart are doing it now, which is good. I had my brag earlier on but overall Acteon and I have had a great year. Things have pretty much wrapped up for us now till Feb. Cheers for a great 2009 everybody, may 2010 be bigger and better! Ooooh yeah - local liquor shop had Moet on special - a group of us - agility and tracking friends - used to do the 'bottle of Moet for title' thing - but it got too expensive . leopuppy04
The problem is that training last night he was a weaving demon ........go figure. Is that the same for every training session AD?! I found out recently that I was causing the issue with the 'can't weave at trials'... although that's hardly surprising always the handler isn't it! Someone pointed out to me that I don't de-cel before the weaves at a trial, whereas I do at training. What do ya know! I de-cel and give her room at a trial and she weaves like a pro . Might be something to consider there... think outside the square a little as to what may be causing the weaving issues?!

Might be something to consider there... think outside the square a little as to what may be causing the weaving issues?! I can't see anything and sadly nor can anyone else!! Our current theory is two fold. First of all he does have trouble hitting the weaves at full speed - rear end awareness isn't quite what we would like to see. So, over christmas I'm going to retrain his entries using 2 x 2 method. We think this will help him with the confidence to hit the weavers at speed and in turn keep the fun element in it for him. The other is that the extra level of pressure in a trial is something that he feels (be it from me or the extra dogs/people/noise/whatever). When I look at videos of him 3 or 4 months ago and compare them to now it is like looking at a different (and more confident) dog. This is one that time will fix - he is now driving hard on most of the course, just not weavers and the occasional contact. a while back he would rarely drive anywhere. Hopefully by giving him a different way of looking at things and giving him a break for a while over Xmas we will recreate him. (I think the wider ANKC weavers we are going to attack a bit more next year will also help matters.) Thanks for the thought - I am going to take special note of whether/when I am decelling for weavers too - that might just help him. T
