2009 Brags Thread

This Brag is almost as pitiful as my 2010 goals post but I was very proud. Pete has always had issues of over excitement around other dogs, always wanting to play, and I would lose his attention as soon as he saw one. It's still an ongoing issue, but this morning on our walk, there was a little dog (his favourite kind ) on the other side of the road yapping at Pete from behind it's fence. I got him to do a sit stay and he did it! Admittedly I only asked 15 seconds of him, but still, big steps forward!! :(

Seems the JRT thread is pretty inactive i thought i would post here. Harri got his Flyball Dog Champion (FDCh) on the weekend . He also ran a personal best time (that i have seen) of 6.8 Seconds, which is not too bad for a stumpy legged little boy :(.

Nothing to do with trialling, but OMG, I have a new dog.

CK has always been, how do I put this nicely?, laid back in his approach to life, but particularly to training. Since we came back from World Dog Games he's seemed to have a new eagerness and drive.

This morning he took it to a whole new level! Instead of the mildly interested, 'OK, I'll do what you want because you are asking me to do it' I usually get, he was pin sharp with the nutty BC eyes - the ones Xena always has on, but he has never had before.

His heeling was amazing, his stays weren't really the disinterested, 'I'll stay here if I have to' I'm used to. They were more like 'I'm here, what do you want me to do now, if I stare at you hard enough I can make you..., WOW :) there we go, you've released me, I'm going to launch and race straight to you and do a perfect sit in front of you, what now, what now, what now!!!!!'

Our tricks were the same a very controlled kind of crazy - and he was DRIVING to his toy like he never has before.

It's like someone stole my old dog and gave me a whole new one! AWESOME. And all this on a hot, muggy morning. I just hope we can continue this into our next couple of trials.

If I could find out what it is and bottle it I could make a mint!

Thanks Shoey, he's finally got it . A certain enthuasiastic Stafford deserves a big thumbs up as well. Eddie did brilliantly on the weekend :p. And Miss Molly too .

Thats great ADs, it is amazing when you see them kick up a gear and realy start working well and having a great time.

Yep! They've let everyone know who needs to sit a supplementary exam (not me!), so that means I either passed or failed miserably! I get my official results next month, but I feel like the exams went well, so I doubt I failed! Two more years to go for me, too! Into the hospitals next year, thank goodness!!!!!!

OMG not sure we can trust either of them Ptolomy  . That concept is positively scary. Somebody pointed out to me today that I could have done medicine and become a specialist in the length of time I have spent thus far at uni - er lets not go there.

I think you could have chosen whatever profession you wanted in the amount of time it's taken you

We had a good night in at our first trial in almost 2 months last night.

Both dogs walked off the first course at heel after deciding to do their own thing. After that Xena ran AWESOMELY. We got eliminated in one where I messed up on a d/w tunnel discrimination - that horrible feeling when you know you've taken one step the wrong way, but can't fix it. Other than that she was brilliant.

Then we had two runs where we had one fault - one mine and one hers - she knocked a bar and I can't for the life of me pin it on me. Both runs were really quick though. Finally we got a card in open jumping. 20 obstacles in just over 30 seconds!!

CK was another story. He ran everything very nicely except his weavers. I think he is getting the picture though. If he doesn't weave he gets to walk off the course and back into his crate. The third time I did it he got the picture and bolted back to the weavers!! (FTR - he can weave quicker than Xena, he just doesn't like to do it in the ring. ) I wouldn't normally do it to him, except that in the first run of the night he got his entry, turned and looked at me and then took off to the next jump which is what I normally let him do. It was the look that did it.

We just had an agility trial last night. Was especially impressed with my little baby Gabby. She was entered in 4 classes and passed all 4 classes. ADM she got her very first pass with a first place, her 6th pass in JDM with a 2nd, JDO with a first and ADO a second beaten by her sister Inka that got a first. Xena who is 11 was only entered in 2 classes got a second in JDO and we did have a horrible run in JDM and got a 6th. We do have another agility trial and a games trial for the rest of the year and hopefully I can get my JDM
