Quickasyoucan
Roo on Northern Beaches there is one group trains at Deep Creek, Narrabeen, then Northern Suburbs Dog Club at St Ives Showground. I think Poocow goes to the Narrabeen one, it is Manly Warringah Dog Training or the like. She could probably tell you. I enquired of them but the lady said you have to use food rewards, which is not my thing. I think also depends on the health of your dog doing agility. Jake has mild HD so I thought best not in the end.

laffi
For those who don't use food... what do you use? Toys only?
Kavik
You will find that as agility is reward based, most if not all clubs use food, but should allow you to use toys as well. There is Paws 4 Fun at Castle Hill http://www.paws4fun.org.au/ Manly & Districts at Narrabeen http://www.northernbeachesdogtraining.com.au/index.htm Agility Dog Club of NSW at Castle Hill http://www.agility.org.au/ Canine Fun Sports at St Ives http://www.caninefunsports.com.au/ Northern Suburbs at St Ives http://www.nsdogtraining.org.au/homepg.html Will put up web addresses in a minute ETA: Whoops forgot: PICSI at Parramatta http://www.picsi.org.au/ Edited March 6, 2009 by Kavik

R00
As far as I am aware there are DOLers at all those clubs Why don't you want to use food? no real reason, just never have except to fine tune a particular action. It is a bit like my ace in the pocket I am not closed minded to it.
Quickasyoucan
As far as I am aware there are DOLers at all those clubs Why don't you want to use food? My dog is prey not food driven. Toys work better However it's a moot point for me as I won't be doing agility with Jake anyway can't risk his HD ETA: when i enquired of Manly they told me I had to use food. Kavik
The clubs I've been to recently let you use toys if that's what your dog likes. I think some things are easier with food though - clicker training for example, and this has many applications in agility. Did you ask if you could use toys at Manly? PICSI has on their website that they like it if your dog tugs so they definitely allow toys Kaos doesn't tug reliably yet ETA: I use both food and toys, depending on what I am trying to train. Some things are easier with food, some with toys. Edited March 6, 2009 by Kavik
Vickie
Which is best really depends on you. Different clubs will suit different people for different reasons. I used to go to ADC Castle Hill & Paws4Fun. I now go to Nthn Suburbs & Canine Fun Sports. Each place has offered something different. I don't train with food much but I like to have the option if I want to use it for something specific. There are a number of other local clubs other than the ones mentioned above...Springwood, Deerbush, Sutherland etc. We also have at least 5 people who do formal private (and small group) classes in Sydney now & a few others who do so informally. It is great that we are getting so many options & "privatisation" can only help to increase overall skill levels.

I use a mixture of food and toy, mostly toy though. There is no limit on age - how old are your dogs?
