It sounds to me, as well, that there is still ovarian tissue remaining. I would definitely recommend having it removed. Otherwise, you could get into issues like vaginal and cervical tumours, pyometra (a serious infection of the remaining uterus) etc. If it were my dog, I would reoperate. In my practice, I would do a CT scan with contrast to help identify the residual tissue.

I am in NZ and unfortunately we don’t have repro vets here. My vet is a great vet but lacks the specialist knowledge that would be handy in cases like this. My first reaction was to operate as she is a fit and health dog but the bitch has had reoccurring UTI since a baby as a result of a pouch just inside the entrance where the urine pools. She has had multiple surgeries to correct this and I am conscious of the fact that she has never really been normal in that region and has a lot of scaring.

Thanks everyone for your help. Spoke to my vet today and we had done some research into it. he wants to wait until next time and do a blood test as well as a swab to confirm prior to operating which is fair enough considering she is all but finished this time.

Lowenhart, thanks for that. As far as I can see there are none within a 20hr trip but if my vet can't help me I will look into it further
