im not talking a hard slap, like you want to hurt him, just enough so he knows who's boss, otherwise if he knows your scared of him and he will put it over you, he is the dominate one, not you but you can change this quite easily

Now that I've gotten up off the floor...APBT resource guarding does not mean the dog is "dominating" you, it means he is guarding that which he sees as a valuable resource to him because we continuously try to take it away from him.

How would you like it if someone came up to you at the dinner table and took your half eaten plate of food away. I think you would throttle them and in turn, they would slap YOU in the face.

:laugh: OMG, your poor dogs and extremely bad advice!

In regards the food agression, i had a problem with my 2 staffords. they were fine when feeding seperately, but feed them together and well, the growling etc would start. So i made them eat out of my hand together, which i did everytime i fed them(only had to do it for about 2 days), then they were fine.

I also make them sit and wait for their meals and only when i say good dog, can they then eat.

I have 4 pups at the moment(7weeks) who i can say, dont have a problem with food but with each other, thats a different kettle of fish. They are very jealous of me and when i am patting one, another will come over and all hell breaks loose.

To correct them, i am putting my hand on the one that is attatcking,(usually the one on top)on one side of their face and saying no then gently pushing them in the opposite direction and giving them a toy at the same time. They are slowly getting the idea and over the last few days, have had only the smallest of outbursts.

Hope you get on top of it....
