Kempe
First time poster so please excuse and move if in wrong area. I have been offered a pedigree puppy from a breeder but they tell me the papers haven't gone through yet, the puppy is 10 weeks old. Should I be concerned about buying it if the pedigree limited registration hasn't gone through yet? Does this happen often?, what happens if there is a problem registering it as a pedigree and I have already paid for it? I realise that realistically it doesn't really matter and I trust the breeder, but......... Thanks in advance for your advice.
ellz
Nothing really to be concerned about. The breeder may have just been waiting to be sure which puppies they wanted to keep or sell as show prospects on main registration before registering the litter or may have been waiting on a signature from the owner of the stud dog or eye certificates or any one of a multitude of other valid delays. Thank you ellz, the breeder did say they were thinking of keeping it for breeding/showing. My mind is at rest Edited February 18, 2009 by Kempe
puggy_puggy
If you have checked out the breeder and they are well known in their breed circle then you really don't have that much to worry about. If the breeder is someone that no one has heard of and you found through a dodgy website then I would be concerned. It might be possible to ring up the states Canine Council and ask if they have so and so's litter of pups registration in their inbox.
Flaves
I would check, if i was planning to show the pup. If not showing then i prob would not bother checking, i would just ring and ask them about it regularly until it came through
badboyz
Also would make a difference which state you are in. In Qld, the breeder registers the pup straight into the new owners name, so regn's are often not sent off till after all pups are sold.

It also depends on yr cc ,some take thier time !!!processing rego papers :D
poodlefan
Some breeders don't make the decision between Main and Limited Registration until 8 weeks or sometimes later. If everything else checks out, I'd not be concerned.
