jerojath
Oh how exciting JJ, Obviously it is Amys first litter, hope her hip/elbow scores come back ok!! So if you keep a pup from the new litter you will have 4 girls, your trailer will definatly come in very handy. The show must be getting close now, Im sure Tarni will do very well, and are you showing Amy as well?Jerojath Killarney is cool, what will she get for short, Larney !! Your job sounds interesting, keep us posted!! and Good Luck!! Yep. Amy's first litter. I bred her too. She is "Jerojath Love Over Gold" from our Dire Straits litter - all pups in that litter carry a Dire Straits song title (J Walk Of Life, J Six Blade Knife, J Solid Rock etc). Yes we will have 4 girls, plus two girls & two boys we co-own. Trailer will be handy - wouldn't bother having it for 2 or 3 dogs! For short Killarney may get 'Killer' ;) Tarni's first show is on August 23 and then on August 30. Amy is entered too. Edited to add: at one point some years back before moving to WA, I had 11 vizslas! Edited August 10, 2009 by jerojath

jerojath
Sorry bout Seb JJ, I am seeking information to see if I can find out what it is about.Next time I might leave him onlead for the first half then let him off lead for the second half and see what happens Love the name OH had a chat to his boss ;) Pandii don't stress about Seb - half the problem is that my lot are such sooks! They could ignore him and run off if they wanted. Stupid dogs! ;)
Guest Pandii
Well they could as they can get up those sand dunes and he cant plus they can out run him. Yet Tarnie isnt worried by him at all, very odd. I am getting off my arse to get him back into obedience for a little while, i think he is just flexing his teenage muscle. Got my Petnews too, was great to see they did an article on the HV, although they really need to educate warrnmabool about pure breed dogs and regisitered breeders. You could shorten JJ Killarney to JJK or just Kay Keep us updated on the job front. Dyl went donwhill yesterday, ran a huge temp overnight, restless, weak not good

(Guess coz they've seen so much of mine lately . I got my pet news with a HUGE bill I looked at the news letter before I looked at the bill!! Good to Your breed featured, and interesting to see thier take on the whole DA issue!! Well they could as they can get up those sand dunes and he cant plus they can out run him. Yet Tarnie isnt worried by him at all, very odd.I am getting off my arse to get him back into obedience for a little while, i think he is just flexing his teenage muscle. Got my Petnews too, was great to see they did an article on the HV, although they really need to educate warrnmabool about pure breed dogs and regisitered breeders. You could shorten JJ Killarney to JJK :D or just Kay Keep us updated on the job front. Dyl went donwhill yesterday, ran a huge temp overnight, restless, weak not good I have found especailly in the last 3 years with working with the citys dog people and dogs in general, Warrnambool as a whole I dont think are any different than any other town in Australia, There is always going to be percentages of people that have PB dogs and the percentage of people that have X Breeds. I would say on a whole through our training school we have seen a lot more PB dogs, (some from Reg breeders some from Bybs) than X breeds, and a lot more X breeds than Purposely bred X breeds. I know this is only a small percentage of the community, but by talking to these people in general there is so many reasons behind why one buys the type of dog they buy. A lot of them are educated on PB dogs but still choose otherwise for different reasons. I will use myself as an example, I grew up with a pure bred Cocker Spaniel, bred from excellent lines and she was from a registered breeder, so while I am educated about pure bred dogs and am in no way against them at all. I have this time around choosen not to have a pure bred for reasons that I am not prepared to discuss here on a PB forum. I like it here and dont wanna get booted off so am just using myself as an example that not all people with x breeds are uneducated on PB dogs. This discussion, is really a double edged sword and could be never ending. Everyone has thier own views on the subject Im sure. Did anyone see the local paper today with the rise in council fees, we have been stung and they said dog clubs have been using facilities for years with out paying, what a joke, we dont even have a rubbish bin at our training ground and the oval we train on is so wet under foot it is almost impossible to work on. The dogs and handlers have a hard time training in a swamp Anyway It doesnt matter that we are a non profit club and are doing a community service, we still have to pay, not sure what will happen but to say the least there may have to be some rise in fees to cover the cost and we may also be able to fund raise to get new equipment for the club possibly for agility, fly ball etc and also hoping to have our own shed, if we can raise enough money. I know this doesnt concern some of you but just thought Id post it as a point of interest for the ones that frequent Brierly. Pandii, I asked Patricia about doing training with a martingale and she said if it makes any kind of correction on the dogs neck when the lead is pulled then it isnt allowed. JJ, any news on the job front?? Tanya, have you decided what to do for Brunos party?? Tez and Tenties havent seen you about for a while?? I know Maws has been quiet, she is away but Im hoping she will be back and able to come walking with us on Sunday.
Guest Pandii
TLC, I will still talk to her about it, it is the only collar recommended for the breed, she shouldnt descriminate against the breed based on her own thoughts Thanks anyway. Anyone up for a walk tomorrow?
tlc
She never took the breed into consideration, she probly knows nothing about Sharpeis, so she wouldnt be discriminating against them. It is just her policy for the method of training we use, but for sure give her a ring maybe if you tallk to her she might change her mind.
Guest Pandii
Thanks TLC I will, a flat collar will rub his neck wrinkles causing all sort of trouble and nasty infections, Pei breeders recommend limited slip even on puppies to cope with wrinkles, but if she doesnt want us to use the correct collar for the breed there is not much I can do, was hoping to come train with you all and enjoy teh company, but wont compromise Sebs neck for that, I have tried and ended up with a mess of sores

Munchin
Hey you guys, any one out there know of someone that can look after a dog friendly cat for a short time. Owner will help with all costs. Her lined up option has fallen through and she has to be out of the house this Friday. Have posted in General but just thought I would see if there was anyone local. tez
Finally back on DOL after a very busy few weeks and then last weekend I decided to change rooms around at home so what was a lounge room became my bed room and then had to move the lounge room to dining room then the kids room to my old bedroom in preparation for a (god help me) future reno. Anyway, that resulted in tons of mess and total exhaustion so this is the first chance back online. Jane's stitches come out on Saturday so I'm keen to devote all Sunday to training and walk. Dosent matter if there is a bit of a lag time between training and the walk as it might give us some time to exhaust Jane and hopefully make her less of a handful on the walk. I hope I'm not going to be too embarressed by her behaviour....she seriously makes me question my ability to train a dog as she is sooo constantly on the go and so very challengeing. Just when I think we are getting somewhere she resorts to a new and annoying party trick. The newest one is going absolutely spastic on the lead...jumping and leaping and grabbing the lead. I then get her to sit, drop ect to re-focus her (which she does really well) then BOOM...shes off again!!! We are back up Mt Leura for off lead walks and we met a man and his kids up there tonight. Jane was hyper excited to say hello so was totally into "jump fest".He asked me what breed she was, I said she was half Lab and Half Mad...He laughed and said she seemed to be true to her breed LOL! Sooo...apologies to all in advance if Jane's reintroduction to the world of dogs isn't all I hope it will be and I will totally understand if one or all of you decide perhaps we need to go to the quiet corner of the beach! jerojath
Tez, Tez, Tez. You have nothing to worry about - you've not met my Tarni yet!!! While reading your post I was thinking I should ask if she's a Labrador - sounds very typical of young-Lab behaviour, with the bouncing and mouthing the lead etc. Very 'gundog' type behaviour but very Lab They DO grow out of it though. I'll be doing the walk but wont have Amy with us - she's off to Melbourne on Saturday. Will be good to meet you & Jumpin' Jane!
tlc
Tez, you worry way to much, Jane will be fine, JJ's girls are very cruisy, you know my guys will give her a little back off wake up call if she is too in thier face but if we are all moving forward and walking the track she will be fine, she will probly be hooning with my lot, they love it at thunder point so much to explore, and I dont think you will have to worry about her running off as Im sure she will stick with the other dogs. I think Tanya will walk and Jane loves Bruno, not sure about Pandii, she still has sick son. Janet is away for the weekend so Jane wont get to meet Boof and sniff, but she will love them and Im sure she will play well with both of them, so hopefully next time. Cooper had a big run off lead today and is still not quite right with his foot, so Im taking it steady with him maybe some off lead time and a bit more on lead time as when off he is just running the whole time doing his captain explorer routine ;) Anyway hopefully we will aim for 12.30 if that ok with you and hopefully my meeting will be over by then if not I will probly be able to get away, as I will have to go home to get Cooper. BTW there is no training the week after, I dont remember why I think patricia is away that week. :) @ half lab, half mad!! dont give up, she is still only young, you will be suprised one day it will all just fall into place and you will be glad you put in the hard yards. You are doing a great job with her, keep it up!! Im really looking forward to Sunday. Hope 12.30 will be an ok time for you, and everyone else?? Can we have a head count of who would like to walk at Thunder point on Sunday??
Riley James
Tez, just wish I was there to get to meet you and your exuberant pup (nothing like the energy of pup) I am sure both my guys will love Jane. Boof is just desperate for another pup to play with LOL he tried to play with Cooper today but Coop told him pretty quick that he is a distinguished dog not a crazy playing pup hahahahaha. (he was just so good and patient with Boof who was in his face a bit trying to play, I think Boof has a bit of hero worship happening with Cooper now lol. He followed him around like a groupie And Sniff is usually up for a play. Hey JJ where is Amy going too ???? how you getting her there?????? I too am off to Melb to see my friend in Hospital now that she is conscious (yay) We are heading off Sat morning and coming home some time on Sunday. Also have some questions for you about the hip and elbow scoring if thats ok with you that I pick your brain????? Hope you all have a great walk and I hope we can organise another big get together that we can make :) Cheers Janet
