Hello, we are all going ok.

Haven't committed to exhibiting the dogs this year have a few personal things that I've committed to and I've had to take a step back in relations to the complex of the dogs and focus on the family.

However depending on how I'm travelling in lifes journey i may considering mating Lele in a few months when she comes into season. We had a setback with our co-owned girl in Horsham who had to be desex due to a health concern and therefore we kepted Lele entire as our backup plan. Looking at using a Blenheim stud, so it would be a particoloured litter. Its our last opportunity with her as she will be desex this year regardless of the outcome.

Mystic is a long dangley teenager, good news is they do grow out of this stage. Photos below.

Hi all,

I have some exciting news for Herding enthusiasts in South West -Vic. We are hoping to run a herding clinic to raise funds to get a herding club up and running for South Westerners.... If you can help spread the word we would really appreciate it!

What sort of training does a dog have to already have to attend one of these clinics? Also does the dog have the be of the working variety? And lastly where do you think the clinic will take place?

At this stage we are only trying to gauge interest for a clinic, but to answer your questions...

1. The clinic will be for beginners, so no experience necessary.

2. Yes it needs to be of a herding breed or herding breed cross - as per ANKC rules

3.Denise is planning on using one of 2 properties around blackgate road - just out of Geelong. Tenties will know Blackgate road as she used to live down that way many years ago. and my property is now covered in her unwanted agapanthas :love:

Good on you GSDs :o Great to see that you're getting it out this side of Melbourne.

What's the deal if you only want to audit? I might be interested, depends on cost and it not clashing with good agility trials :D

Hi Jess,

Yes, we thought it was about time South Western Vic had a chance to show what it could do with sheep :D:D Having to travel to the other side of Melbourne and beyond sux when we have good trainers, lots of sheep and land etc down here!

We purely want to know if there is an inerest out there first. No use getting full into it if no-one is interested. Details (costs-when -etc) will be worked out once we had an idea of numbers and what courses they wanted to learn about, eg., I'm interested in 'C' course, but if no one else is interested, then there is no use organizing someone to teach 'C' course at a clinic. I'll just have to watch everyone else!!!!!

The whole aim is to raise funds to get a herding club up and running. The details for that are being worked out now. Still lots of people to talk to and paperwork to do!

If you could help pass the word, we would really appreciate it. I'd hate to see a chance go by! :D

Maybe I should post it out in the herding thread too in case we don't have enough interest from Western Vic people? :o

Absolutely worth advertising it in the herding thread - also try the BC, Kelpie and Coolie thread as well as any other working breed threads.

I seriously don't know enough about the sport of herding to even know what a "C" course is as opposed to an A or B. My experience with working dogs is solely on farm, mostly working cattle, did some sheep and dog work as a jillaroo but that was a few year's ago now. ;) I'd like for both Darcy and Zee to get at least their HIT given they are both eligible, even though Darcy doesn't look it :)

GSD's that is a great idea and I wish you guys every success with it!

I'm afraid my having Gundogs means I will be of no help, unless you want to shoot the sheep and have them dragged back to you. :)

I am more than happy to help out on the day (or any other) if needed though.

Agree with Jess that this should go in the herding thread.

I think there would be very limited interest from this thread alone....

I should think asking the Standard to do a brief story creating awareness of the workshop would be the bast way to draw numbers. :)

Anyone up for a catch up today at Harris Street? About 12.30? I'm just waiting to hear from Shannon to see if she's up for it.

Only just got on to find this..... Have a nice time!

I can't get out again today.... Just been out to see Donna who I haven't visited in months.

It was Jess' birthday yesterday and it's Jemma's birthday today, so got the family coming over.

Tomorrows probably out too, as Jessica is having a big birthday party.

Yay me.... surrounded by 25 screaming 6/7 year old girls!

Thanks Jess....I'll put it in the herding thread to start with and go from there! :)

So you'll pm me your details as being interested then???? Remember it's only an expression of interest - not written in stone!! :(

Maybe if we get this club up n running you'll get your chance to go for your HIT one day! :)

'C' course is European style herding (tending)- particularly suited to GSDs where they have to guard the crops from the sheep... amongst other duties! :) The only thing not included is the protection test and gripping the sheep.
