jerojath
Back to tracking.... I have been getting some advice from some Vizsla folk who are well experienced in the world of tracking, and they are suggesting doing any training in tracking, even in a fun 'workshop' situation, could confuse my dogs who are trained for the field, and could make training for either endeavor more difficult. I considered taking Vitasz along but again, was recommended I don't, if I have plans on working him in the field later. This is something I hadn't even considered when deciding to attend the tracking day and as these people are more knowledgeable than I in regards to tracking, I think I may give it a miss this time at least. I would still like to come and watch from the gallery if no-one minds...
tlc
Worth every cent, so long as it has purrdy colours! Thats what I reckon, it looks great on her being white, as long is its a fashion statement thats all that matters!! Probly way to trendy for tracking, more of a fashion accessory than a working accessory but who cares!
tlc
I think it would be great if you came and watched even bring the young fella for a bit of socialization at least if you wanted to, Im thinking all the dogs that are going are pretty sound and well socialized. Very good point with regards to your lot and what you have them doing. From my point of view I love any of the "workshop" type things we do, I would love to have my guys do a wide variety of different things but have no interest in trialing what so ever in any field, just more having fun for me is the most important thing. All 4 of mine are good at different things, so depending on which particular thing we are doing, I decide on which dog Will benefit the most if that makes sense and that's who I take. I think the tracking will be good for TJ as she decides these days that she would rather stay home, jacking up every time we go somewhere I have to make her get in the car and yet when we get there she is happy to run around and have a play. She is the least dog social out of all of mine so I like to keep her involved and work on that side of things with her. If you don't ring Trish I can certainly ask her this weekend about spectators but I am sure she wont mind. She also has the swim gym now set up at her place which is all finished as far as I know but I haven't been out there for a while so I can't wait to see what it is like
Tenties
Well my breeding is starting to prove itself , on the weekend a pup from one of my bitches was awarded RUISS his Mum was killed when he was 3 wks old , this boy is only 9 mths old and im told the judge made the comment of....he will be beating his Father soon...... ( his Father was BISS ) i nearly caved in and took this boy when he was 12 wks but im not overly keen on Tan and whites and i had way too many dogs plus i was living at my parents. His Mum was very special to me and for some reason i was very special to her, as she never forgot me and almost pined for me after i had been to visit, she was offered back to me because she wouldnt settle but again i couldnt because i was at my parents it was not long after that Ruby had the biggest fight with a couple of her owners dogs and came off 2nd best and died later that day I hope she is at the Rainbow bridge looking down on her boy knowing that she has produced a RUISS and also a group winner, Ruby was Mintypark Nightshade..by CH Mintypark The Ants Pants( Buzz ) out of Mintypark Keepn Secrets ( Moo ) RIP Ruby girl.... GSDs
Is anyone down that way trialling? I'm thinking about putting Oki in his first TSD, but I'll have to give that some more thought - I keep thinking about those freezing cold mornings again. There is a few from Harris St - I think Mick with the GSPs is still trialling and Necia is now judging as well as trialling her young dog. There is someone at Inverleigh who trials, a friend stays with her whenever they trial over that way. There is a bunch from BDOC who trial as well. So there are quite a few trialling. Wonder why more aren't into training days? I wonder if its Helen she stays with at Inverleigh. Helen was (until recently) the secretary of the TCV and is a judge. She is also the to blame for getting me hooked on tracking! :D She usually has a full house when the trials are on at Inverleigh. Helen has 2 lovely Staffies that did their TSD last year and I think one took out tracking dog of the year and the other took out TSD of the year - not a bad effort eh? I don't trial in tracking, between agility and obedience and the girls' fitness requirements I don't have a hope of fitting it in! Now Jess, I don't believe for one minute that you don't have time for tracking.... Theresa

tez
Hey JJ...if you can come tracking it would be great as not only a spectator but also a helper as we need extra people to help hold the dogs while we lay the tracks. I took a friend last time and we took in turns which was good! Btw...I'll be with the (fat) black dog who won't be looking very snazzy with the borrowed harness, yellow collar and red lead! Which is all good as she will be with the equally unco-ordinated (fat) handler who will be lucky to have a matching pair of socks on! Tully may not want to have anything to do with us Tenties...sad news about Ruby but congrats on her son!

Theresa I think the guys who trial do their own training, and one trains with BDOC. I think they are all pretty experienced so a general training day might not be their thing, or they may not know about it. Not sure who the Inverleigh person is, all I know is she lives near the Cop Shop. Can't be that many people in Inverleigh who track, surely I wouldn't mind learning to track at some point, one day when I'm rich I'm going to follow the warm weather and the better daylight hours. Or just invest a few hundred thousand into a fully equipped heated indoor facility under lights, complete with a heated doggy pool.

Cav they are looking really well. And yes, are you keeping one???????? Thankyou. They are all thriving which is great considering the rocky start we had. Am I'm retaining any of the litter: YES, regardless that they are mismarked. As I don't have any offspring from my other girl due to her phantom pregancy and Lele is being desex after this litter is weaned I haven't got anything to continue with. Cavalier community i have found very difficult to obtain decent whole coloured females on mains therefore I decided I'm keeping the blk/tan girl at this stage. She won't be champion show bitch as she has a touch on white on her rear toe which is a bugger as overal she is appealing and very rich coloured, but I'll see how she develops and if I will continue with her as a broad bitch. Shari is going to go to a local friend of ours and I will retain her breeding rights, she might be show quality depends if her white on her chest falls out or covers over. Again it's early days, can't really tell till 6 months. Basically the rules are that "White is not desireable on whole colours" however majourity of whole coloured cavs do get some white and feathering covers it over. To me, beauty is not as important as health, temperment and overal conformation. The aim is to improve on what we have, so that is what I intend to do. I had a quite a few people on my waiting list for puppies but as timing, colours, markings , sex, etc just didn't meet every applicants desires so as it stands I have 2 available. 1 Ruby female and 1 male. I'm taking expression of interest at this stage in time, screening applicants. No rush, they aren't ready till August and I'm sure between now and then someone will snap them up. Anyone interested the price and all the details are on my website www.cavalblaze.com Edited June 16, 2010 by Cavalblaze
jerojath
Glad you are keeping something, Cav! Makes having a litter rather pointless if you don't. ETA - Don't worry too much about a small amount of white on a chest or foot.... nothing a bit of boot polish wont fix.
