Tootin' Soup???

...I'm intrigued. :grimace:

Do you really want me to spell it out JJ

Its Pea n Ham the Yummiest of all soups :eat:

I got up today , ( unusual :D ) went to open the backdoor to let the dogs out and shoved the door stop across....well i thought it was the door stop.....

had a closer look as it felt light and didnt make the usual noise and found it was a stinking dirty fat Rat :dropjaw: Miss Prim wasnt in bed last night very much, so now i know what she was up too.

Hi everyone,

Thanks heaps for your reply JJ, I will get in touch with them, I think Giorgio was quoted about $800 just for the side, so the job on Tristans van is not too badly priced and it looks great! I will just have to find a ripper of a photo to put on my van now!!!! Someone suggested getting Maws on one side and migs on the other, I reckon people would crash when they saw miggy's face on there

Hope the toot'n soup worked well Tenties ;)

Tlc, I hope you're getting better and better... maybe up for a doggie walk this weekend?? I just visited the hospital with Nelly and Molly, she was really keen and Molly was great! For some reason though, EVERYONE today loved Mawson, I mean, more than normal!!! I kinda felt bad cause no one was reacting to Molly much :(. Was a good day though :)

Catch you all soon :)

Glad you had a good visit, I seen Nelly up the street and patted Molly and she was fine but Emmy wouldn't have a bar of me and hid behind Nellys legs, perhaps Molly is more out going.

WIll see how the weekend pans out, I am exhausted after a 5 minute walk, still finding it hard to get a decent breath and no energy. I took the dogs to Harris street today and what a disaster, Cooper spotted a rabbit, need I say more, when they came back they were filthy covered in burs and sticky grass and looking so pleased with themselves and then to top it off they found a massive big muddy puddle and plonked themselves down in it!! Except for my clean little (tubby) mummies boy, there was no way he was leaving me to go chase rabbits. And he was so upset when they didn't come back right away, bouncing up and down on the spot. Anyway they have all (except B) been through the bath again and guess what they all just had baths yesterday, so hard to get all the sticky grass out of them and they stunk from the grundgy muddy water! So I am about pooped now!

So from now on if we go to Harris street in the cage we go. Or if we are on the oval Cooper will have to go on lead. Thier recall is so good but a good rabbit hunt is much more fun! I think the combo of hardly getting out an minimal training of late has taken a bit of a toll so when we go out they make the most of it! Can't wait till the weather is better. However today has been quite nice!

Tenties do you make your pea and ham soup with the trotters :vomit:

and another :vomit: for your big fat rat, I will never forget the day when Tully got one at mums and she had it in her mouth, head and bum sticking out either end, I just about blew the roof off mum pergola screaming at her to drop it, she got such a fright she promptly spat it out. It was so sluggish we reckon it had a belly for of rat bait!

tlc.......no hocks or trotters......i use plain old bacon bones the meatiest i can get and strip the meat off when all is cooked , meat is shredded and mixed through soup...

Mawson, you really would not want to be around this house after cooking a boiler full of pea n ham...

Oh and by the way peeps, i have a Drake here who would like some female company, if you know of anyone who has large breed ducks let me know please ?? they have to be large breed as "Plucka " is a Rouen x and is HUGE...

Hi All,

Hope you're all well. I have a quick few questions about dew claw removal. I have a friend that has pups due in a few weeks and she's been asking me about having the dew claws done. I personally don't know how to do them, but am also interested to learn. Are there any vets who do them, or any other people that could educate the both of us on how this is done? I have watched youtube videos and read written instructions, however would prefer to see it done before attempting it myself, to know exactly where to snip. As Tyson had his removed as a newborn I can't use him as a guide as to where the 'joint" is. Thanks in advance!!

Hi All,

My puppies are leaving this weekend, Jorja got sold too but she is staying on for a additional week. Be a very quiet household once they are gone.

Dewclaws - Firstly they need to be done within the first 3 days of birth. After that date the vets won't do them nor would most breeders as they start to harden. Craig at Vet Group who is our vet does them with sharp scissors, rather easy all over within seconds. Not that painful and very minor bleeding and they get over it with a cuddle from mum.

We missed one pup from our litter 12 months ago and she had them done at the time of desexing. I wish i had them done at birth as the stitches and banages along with the pain it certainly was not nice experience. Rather big scars for such a tiny thing but it's like removing a toe. Nesscasary for her to have them done one was a soft dangly that was sure to get caught one day.

I have them done by Craig. If not done correctly they can re-grow within weeks.

I had so many people with my last litter request that they NOT be removed, that I have left them on these pups.

None of this litter are destined for the ring.

Peoples attitudes are changing. The general public are beginning to see little difference between docking tails and removing dew-claws. Must say it disappoints me a little.

It will disappoint them too the day they catch them on something and get ripped off  i had always done mine as i did them better than my vet less blood and no fiddle farting around ;) mine is now trying to wrap sticky tape around the leg to stop the bleeding :mad if i ever have more pups i will be doing them under his supervision i feel  oh got off track, it seems its against the law to do them yourself now more money to vets :(

Hey Jj did you miss my post about the smart meters? We are expecting a knock on the door any day!

Geez I'm sorry tlc. I can't remember if I saw your post or not to be honest. Been pretty busy of late.

While I have read and been told conflicting stories, I am led to believe that until the Victorian GOVERNMENT decide to make their installation mandatory (which wont be, if ever, until they have completed their independent studies into the meters) residents can not be forced to have the meters installed.

I put a sign on my meter box which reads: "STOP! WE DO NOT WANT A SMART METER INSTALLED UNTIL AFTER THE STATE GOVERNMENT HAS COMPLETED ITS SMART METER REVIEW. THANKS."

Smart Meters have been installed throughout my area, yet none have been fitted to my house nor others who erected a sign or informed the Powercor Contractors that they don't want it.

I guess that if the Vic Govt do wish for it to become mandatory, then we don't have a leg to stand on.

I have heard of probable health issues caused by smart meters too.... particularly where peoples meter boxes are fitted to the external walls of bedrooms.

RJ came to see me at the shop today. Was great to catch up, albeit briefly, as I've not seen her for yonks. :)

We really will have to congregate for a big dog-walk soon I think! Starting to loose touch with y'all!

Tenties I agree. I have seen what can happen to dew-claws left on, although I do think it's quite a rare occurrence. I certainly wouldn't work a dog in the field with them on, that's for sure!

I once copped a pig-dog injury late one night at the clinic where the dog had slid through a fence, caught the dew-claw on a wire loop and tore it right up to its arm-pit. Horrific injury, and we ended up euthing at owners request due to costs. Thing is, it doesn't just happen to pig-dogs... it can happen to ANY dog even within the home. I have seen it occur on a shag-pile rug. :(

Hey Tenties how's your new ute going? Have you picked her up yet?

JJ it was funny we had a dicussion at work about your new shop (someone mentioned they saw it) and what you supply, none of us at work are brave enough to enter yet... lol

Jjs shop is a big talking point between two of my work mates, they both love the scaly ones  Thing is now they think I am making it up about knowing you as each time I say oh I just seen Mick, there like really where is he still here. They can't wait till you open!

I really do hope we can catch up for a fur date soon, although I am back to the doctors this arvo, something is just not right with me, I know WC takes a long time to get over but I am having trouble getting good breaths and pain when i do, also sore back and terribly sore ribs, plus still coughing which I know will take a while to go. Somedays I think Oh I feel much better today then the next I feel as bad as I did to begin with. Plus tired and no energy. So will see what the doc says this arvo.
