jerojath
Jj love your new avatar, very cute! Have you had any luck with your ring in girl yet? Or is she a keeper?? She's really lovely tlc but it wouldn't be ideal that I keep her. I have had communique with the NSW vizsla club which has an excellent rehoming/rescue committee and they have a few 'suitable' homes waiting for a vizsla in need. Nothing perfect though, but they will keep me posted on available homes. Lilly's litter-brother Ollie lives north of Horsham on a 7000 acre wheat farm and they are very interested in her. They are on the waiting list for a pup from our next litter (18 months away) but love the idea of having Ollie's sister move in. There are lots of things to consider before sealing the deal, and they are going to meet her tomorrow or Monday so we'll see what happens. That is Lilly in my avatar when she was 6 weeks old (maybe a little younger). She's VERY cute!
tez
I agree J.J...she is very very cute. Best of luck to finding her next and last home. seems that who has her will be very very lucky!
jerojath
Just got back from a lovely walk at Killarney. Not a soul around. A beautiful morning for a walk - cool and crisp. AND the rain held off until just after I'd left! Lots of wallaby's, birds and rabbits behind the dunes and great to not have to worry about the snakes. Lilly had a blast - only the second time she's been to a beach and she was a lot more confident today... running with the pack and swimming in the waves. She's worn-out after chasing all them rabbits too! What's everyone else been up to this morning? Although I'm sure most of you were training at Brierly. Edit to add - The Basin Track in and out is awful at the moment... worst I've seen it. All the rain we've had as well as so many people speeding along it has caused bad corrugations and huge mud-puddles. Tenties
Im not that keen actually JJ :D its bloody cold here ..... We have all the Galahs here at the moment and the dogs would just love to be out there chasing them , they are bloody noisy too....cars going past are bipping their horns cos the Galahs are landing on the road out front being a pest, its a wonder they dont get hit.....every now and then you will hear a youngster (do you like that word lol ) come along in their noisy car , not slow down but bip the horn all the way past...they will find out one day what a Galah looks like hitting the front of their car or the windscreen, and what damage they can do..... The poor chooks dont know what to think of Galahs lol, they dash from one tree to the next in the garden , taking cover for some reason the crows are hiding as well didnt think they would be scared of Galahs ( i hate crows )
tlc
The beach sounds like it was great Jj, I love it when there is no one around. No training for us today, we have been on a road trip to Bacchus Marsh for a big dog day. 10 dogs had a ball running around my friends 5 acres, I got some good pics I will post some later. Jj, did you end up applying for your 5th dog permit? Just curious I would love another one but not sure if council would be an issue?? Linda the galahs sound like a right royal pest! Tez, did you go to training today? We stopped at best friends in Geelong for me to get a tracking harness for Tully but the one I wanted was $40 so I left it there... I would use Coopers but it is to big for her, so I'll have to have a look around warrnambool for one. Still have 2weeks till the tracking day.
J...
Just got back from a lovely walk at Killarney. Not a soul around. I reckon we were there at the same time, but I was back near Kelly Swamp. Far nicer than it was a few weeks ago, it was the roughest I'd ever seen it and it was the highest I'd ever seen the tide too. Today was much nicer! No-one down my end either Zee did her last day of foundation agility, and Darcy got to have a quick but feral run around a course. tlc try the net for tracking harnesses, there's a lady on ebay who makes harnesses as well. W'bool selections of pet gear is crap lately. PGD started off ok but now they seem to have a store full of stuff only suitable for dogs who don't live in the real world.
tlc
Thanks Jess my OH suggested the same thing. I knew I'd be pushing my luck around town! I don't even go into PGD anymore, and the lava st pet shop is sooooo overpriced and their range is practically non existent. By the way pet stock has some good specials this week, 20% off some dry food, I will be comparing prices with best friends, in geelong today they had Eagle Pack 15 kilo for $98 which I though was pretty good. J...
Thanks for the tip Will duck in there and grab some cat tucker on Tuesday while I'm down there. I really miss the co-op for dog stuff.
tlc
Yes you would think we would have a better variety but sadly not! Even pet stock don't have a good range of premium dry food, they told me they don't sell enough of it and it goes out of date. So if I want to buy it from there I have to get them to order it in, I think RJ does the same thing. I don't think many people around town feed their dogs premium dog food. Mostly we get ours on the way through Geelong if we are out and about.
J...
Ummm maybe if they actually had stuff in stock I'd go there more often.... so many times I've gone to buy cat food and they don't have what I want. So I don't even bother, yet I'm in Warrnambool far more often than I am Colac, so getting food in Warrnambool would suit me far better.
jerojath
I am fed up of having crappy pet stores in this town. I wish someone would open up a great store out at Bayside Plaza. If I was cashed up I'd do it, coz everyone only shops at the stores we have because there is nothing better! tlc - nope, never put in the permit for 5 as was told as long as #5 wasn't a permanent fixture here it's not worth doing. They are aware she is just here for rehoming. Of course, if she DID decide she wanted to stay, then I'd have to submit the application. If you have a permit for your 4, I don't see there'd be a problem. Before you go silly and buy another dog though, I do have to say that I find the fifth dog to really increase the load on me. A bit like how everyone says "you'll really notice having 3 kids after the 2!". Each dog has been "just one more" but with the fifth I REALLY notice things like my feeding bill, poop-patrol, vet costs, and is a bit difficult taking them all out at once. Admittedly one is a puppy, but he's pretty good. I have been avoiding on-leash walks and just been taking them all bush! RE: Premium pet foods, I am a breeder club member with Eukanuba and get it delivered roughly monthly, maybe other companies do something similar with the brands you guys use? If I run out before it arrives I just grab a bag of Euk or Bonnie from Fairy Street. Jess - Didn't see you at Killarney. I thought about posting in case anyone wanted to meet up but the Mrs wouldn't get off the computer! Obviously has been quite rough seas - LOTS of sea-weed up my end and the tide was very high. tlc - doubt you'd find a tr harness around here. I wouldn't have thought $40 was excessive for one though. tlc
Well I for one would shop at your shop JJ, Im sure you would have all the good stuff. I avoid the pet shops here cause they are very ordinary, thats why I go nuts in Geelong and Melb but suprisingly I didn't buy anything at all today so not like me The harness wasn't a tracking harness as such but an ezy dog harness so not to bad for $40 but more than I want to spend because I more than likely will only need to use it for tracking and we only do it a couple of times a year. Wish we could do it more often but with Sunday training we don't get a chance and then there is not always the interest. I know your right about 5 dogs, OH and I have had a little chat and it went something like....Me: how about we get another puppy?? OH: over my dead body!!!!!! Me: that can be arranged No serioulsy I would love another one but 4 is just a great number for me, I can take them all on lead or off lead and I think adding another would probly upset the apple cart so to speak!! But after spending the day with this little fella you can see why I would be puppy clucky, isnt he cute!!
jerojath
Yes I CAN see how. Maybe 5 wouldn't be so hard after all............
tlc
A few more shots from today, we had a great time, My friend has two of Bronsons brothers, and we visit her a few times a year, she made us a beautiful roast pork lunch and dessert was apple sponge and afternoon tea was lemon merangue pie needless to say I haven't had tea yet! This is Cooper looking for the cars through a secret hole in the wall
tlc
How cheeky is this picture Bronson "is that roast I smell" Chicken dinner I tried so hard to get all the 10 dogs together for a picture but it just didn't happen, they were to busy running and having a good time! tez
Great pics Tlc...Looks like a great place to spend time with dogs and friends! Nice that the weather held out too! That is one cute pup...how old is it? Don't stress about the harness. When Jane and I went tracking last year, Trish had a good supply so we were able to have a lend of one for the time we were there.
Tim & Tanya
Hey Tlc, have you tried the greyhound shop before?? In fairy street just down from Maceys? That's where I get everything for Bruno, from food to coats etc..
tlc
Hi Tanya, I do get my omega oil and worm pills there, and the odd jacket, but they don't have eagle pack. They also have a new type of cat food that comes in a frozen roll they make it there.
tlc
Tez, I might just have to borrow one off Trish if I can't find one. The pup was vaccinated a few of weeks ago so I think he is about 4 months. He was the cruisiest little boy, just ran around with the other dogs like he had been doing it since day dot! Lovely natured little fella, his name is Harry. Even Sean was smitten with him. Edited June 13, 2010 by tlc
