I'm not interested in show training at all - someone way back mentioned SFE stuff and I jumped in and said I would be interested in that. Socialisation is not what I'm after - I'd like to do some high level proofing which I can't do with known people and known dogs.

If people aren't interested or I'm treading on toes - well sorry to interrupt.

Certainly not treading on any toes here Jess,

was just making it clear (as I had received some calls questioning exactly WHAT sort of training we are doing) that I don't want this to be confused with, or become an obedience session.

I think having a mid-week obedience session is a terrific idea, I just don't wish for it to be incorporated into show training.

I think tlc was talking about getting together for some obedience training mid-week? I think she'll have quite a few interested. I'm sure she'll chime in if that's the case.....

No Jess, wasnt meant to upset you, I had a PM asking what exactly we would be doing as they only wanted one or the other

You simply cannot do show training like heel sit ect with a show dog.

and also I feel sorry for JJ who is busy to give up his time to teach something only to have it interupted by obdeince

Jess if I can help with a strange dog I am happy to bring one of mine down either early ( before 7pm) or after we finish for your use if that helps

Well i'm stuffed if i know what has prompted certain replies ??? i have read and re-read everyones posts and still cant see any red flag waving ???? :offtopic:

As for training i originally wanted to start it so everyone could get together for a casual meet up as well as socialising and a bit of lead training for the pups( remembering that JJ had pups so did i and Janet was showing Boof ) show training is a matter of repetition the more they do it the better they get at it ........

I invited Obedience people to come along as im sick of the split between show people and Obedience people , not everyone is competing in Obedience and just because they might come along , well that doesnt mean we will be teaching our dogs to sit and drop each person does an individual, showies do a triangle Obedience people may do some sort of exercise to do with Obedience its the same thing as us, why do show people think they are so much better ?????????????????? im starting to question my further involvement in the show scene as peoples attitudes really disappoint me.In Geelong show training is open to all and its REAL judges running that one and Obedience people do go to it and are made to feel very welcome..... just remember not everyone shows and not everyone competes in Obedience. ;) :p

Tenties I agree some replies have been a little heated (?) why - I don't know.

I think because I suggested showing/obedience training should be seperated?

It certainly wasn't a personal attack on those who would prefer to do obedience!

All I know is I wouldn't turn up to an obedience class and expect them to conduct different exercises just

for me as I wish to show train.

To be perfectly honest, I don't WANT to be conducting show training classes - I would much rather spend the evening with my kids or running the dogs on the beach; I offered to conduct these classes as show training was being discussed here for sooooooo long and nothing was happening. So, I stepped in.

Maybe, as with Geelong, WE need REAL judges conducting such classes - perhaps then they will be taken more seriously.

So right now, I'm feeling I'm just going to be wasting my time on a Wednesday night and frankly, I can't justify doing that.

I have had a couple of people who were concerned with the path the show training appeared to be taking, contact me regarding individual assistance and I think maybe that is the way to go, that is, people serious about learning how to show, and training their dogs accordingly rather than attend what will essentialy be a 'social gathering'.

Tenties - this is certainly not directed at you, or for that matter ANY individual forum member, but perhaps you would be better conducting these classes, as you seem happier with a format which seems more widely accepted than what I had in mind.

Sorry to disappoint anyone, and I hope those who were planning to attend tomorrow night read this before then.

;)

Hi Tenties, I am too wondering what has prompted some responses, as about 8 pages ago, I posted this.............>

Im gonna throw a spanner in the works now and just say that if im the only one that comes along that isnt showing, then I dont want to upset the apple cart by being the odd one out so Im happy just to observe and take photos. I guess if it is all about show training, and Im the only one not doing it but I do bring a dog along then it is only fair to fit in with everybody else. I know what your saying Tenties and I totally get that but I will probly be the odd one out. If the purpose of these training sessions is going to be show training as well as general obedience, then Ill happily join in and take a few snaps along the way, (dont worry Pandii, you know I only shoot dogs ) (oh thats sounds aweful ) Is one of the things youll be practicing stand for examination?? Cause all mine need work with this one, they are all about class one standard but thats about it, we dont do it enough! Anyway what ever goes Im happy with or happy just to come and observe and take pics!!

I never intended to waste anyones time, I am quite aware that show training is a lot different than obedience. I would have been quite happy to bring one of my guys and do the show training as well, Correct me if Im wrong but isnt there usually lots of dogs in and around the show ring. I know I don't show or have no interest in showing, but it is all handling to me and all good for the dogs as far as Im concerned, I just thought it would be nice for a social thing to spending time with like minded doggy people, that is what I like to do. Also bring my camera to snap some shots of the doggies and I would have been quite happy to give over the prints if they were good enough free of charge. Im really sorry that we just cant all get along and enjoy each other company, we all love our dogs and that is a common bond we all share. Its a pity it has come to this. I wont be coming as it has been made plainly obvious that I am not wanted there.

Its not my style to jump down anybodys throat and make people feel like absolute crap and I can't get my trolls to come and do it for me as I dont know any :mad
