jerojath
The skirt will depend on if I ride my bike or notDo you think we should run two lots of classes, on for obedience and one for showing???? Absolutely!!!! Don't want to throw a spanner in the works but I really do not want any obedience training happening during show training. Anyone wishing to do obedience work is more than welcome to train in a different area of the park or at a different time. There is no way obedience can be incorporated into a show training class. Besides the stand for examination, the two are worlds apart. We can't incorporate heeling work when there will be dogs present which will be being trained to 'run out'. I really think show training should remain just that. For people who show, or plan to. Edited to add.... Guest Pandii
No spanner been thrown here JJ I have no wish to do obedience at all and i wont be bringing a dog anyway, I will be borrowing one of JJs for show training or going without and just listening and learning. I dont care if we train at one end of the area and obedience at the other area I would love to catch up with Jess before or after it, and anyone else
witheverythingiam
I wish there was a Lure Coursing club in SW Vic. My Boxer Rocky LOVED Lure Coursing. I reckon my Labrador Molly would love Dock diving. That'd be fun too! I do agree though that you can NOT do Obedience & Conformation together - unless you were training for automatic stands (stack) instaid of auto sits. There's no fun stuff here in Hamilton - only show training, and I don't have a show dog. Ho-hum... -WithEverythingIAm
Guest Pandii
WEIA, I know a breeder looking for someone to show their dogs I could put you in touch;) I am doing some tracking work with Seb he loves it, but yes we need more stuff.
J...
Happy to train in a different area of Harris Street Reserve. Tlc I would do Open level stays which are 3 min sit stay and 5 min down stay but it will be fine with dogs and people moving around as she needs that with dogs potentially breaking and people coming in to get their dogs. As long as no-one rouses on their dog if they attempt to break - used to put up with that in class and Darcy hates it. I return behind, but once again doesn't matter what anyone else does. Also love to catch up with Pandii as well as Necia if she was to come along. There is a few people who do tracking in Wbool, but not in a club sense. The other club used to have flyball gear but weren't really interested. Don't know if they still have it.

Nah I'd just prefer that a bunch of us puts together the "SW Vic Dog Sports Club" that has everything both ANKC disciplines & NON-ANKC also.Imagine if we could choose from Obedience, Agility, Tracking, Endurance, Retrieving trials, Herding, Flyball, Lure Coursing, Dog Sledding, Canine Disc, Dock Diving, Rally-O, Doggy Dancing, Weight Pulling, Schutzhund, or all of the above? -WithEverythingIAm

Riley James
Jess The Warrnambool obedience club (harris street) still have the flyball equipment BUT you have to be a paid up member to get your hands on it and even then a paid up member for a period of time. I have tried my terrier out with it and he loved it but was going to be way too much of a PITA if I wanted to continue. I am sure if there was enough that really wanted to do it we could get some made (could prob blackmail my OH into making some if we could get some plans as he is a stainless steel fabricator) LOL WEIA you made my head spin with all those choices. Hard to believe that there is so many different things you can do with a dog and yet we have hardly any choice here in Warrnambool. witheverythingiam
Sounds great - but I'm nominating you as Trial Secretary for ALL disciplines! OK. I'll Organise EVERYTHING for trials, but I don't want to be President/VP/Secretary/Treasurer of the club. -WithEverythingIAm
witheverythingiam
I was involved in Obedience, Endurance, Lure Coursing, and a little bit of Agility up in Qld. Rocky loved Lure Coursing the best. I should dig up my videos of him having his fun, and put them up on youtube some time. Lure Coursing is quite a cheap sport to start up (you just need a mounted motorbike in working order, pullies, thin rope, and an enclosed field). The Qld club in Brisbane never advertised, as they had TOO many people coming along each meet. -WithEverythingIAm

HI TLC, Had a great time and spoke to quite a few breeders that are willing to help with my quest lol (IF only I could make up my mind ) And saw some lovely dogs some I would ove to own, and some I would rather not Lol Also had a great catch up for Dinner and a we had a great laugh Hi JJ, Oh and I are on a bit of a trip atm, just doing the Great Ocean Road once again :D and some sight / dog seeing. Not showing. Caniche, I think it was you I was talking to??????????? Where you the lady I was speaking to whilst the Min pins where on??????? (I think it was ring 1) I was speaking to a lady that had a purpley color top on that used to live in Warrnambool and said she was travelling???????? LOL how funny would that be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think you where friends with the lady with the min pins ??????? BUt could be wrong. Anyway welcome. And I think we will have another local joining us soon here on line and at show training :D :D Cheers Janet sounds about right, it's a small world except my top is more of a lilac It was a typical show day that's for sure. Anyway we had a lovely time yesterday aqnd collected lots of cuttlefish, we always use to do that when we were kids. Somethings never change. Hi Tez, we love our corgis. Off exploring again in the morning.
witheverythingiam
We have moter bikes lolWEIA, sounds great, is there anything up your way to do witht eh dogs, ( incase i move up there ) That's it Pandii - I DEMAND that you buy a nice big property ASAP, 1/2 way between Warrnambool & Hamilton! I'm sure they will take toilet paper for payment, and I don't mind chipping in a few rolls. :D You probably wouldn't want to use your bikes for Lure Coursing, because the tyre needs removing - this is what drives the rope around the pullies to pull the plastic bag around which is what the dogs chase after. :D There's nothing but Conformation Dog Club here. Sooooo boring. But if you moved here, we could start a social one up - there's not even Obedience or Agility here. The showground is plenty big enough to do "other stuff" though. Just a heap of pot holes around the ground that need filling in (or bull dozing to make flat). I personally think dogs are more rounded & balanced if they have titles at BOTH ends of their name, especially if they have one which has something to do with why they were bred. -WithEverythingIAm

Tenties
We had a great night out tlc, i wasnt all that impressed by the judges at the show's the first one canned my girl for having prick ears lol and then changed the reason for doing it to bad temperment when fronted by officials... that didnt hold water either as the sec stood her up and mouthed her then said she was fine , of course the judge was only saving face for not remembering the standard :D :D my boy was given BOB the first and second day most likely cos Fidget was only just over 6 months, time has flown cos i keep thinking she is only 5 months Fidget WAS given the bitch challenge the second day and didnt get canned for her ears Hope to see you at training on Wednesday night along with Janet tlc ?? Guest Pandii
I was wondering all day why you would want to do obedience at show training I mean obedience clubs run on weekends and you can do it on any day by yourself or out and about if you want distractions. Show training isnt run anywhere in our area, and JJ has been nice enough to help start something, why confuse it with obedience which few of us have mentioned we have no intrest in, Socialising can be done before and after the training times for both human and dogs, but can also be done anytime of day or week JJ is giving up his precious family time and I know that 7pm is a very busy time when you have little kids and such, so those who are only truly intrested in show trianing have use of such experience that JJ and Tenties are providing we should give JJ and Tenties the respect for giving up their time and providing us with FREE show training, and also those who are travelling especially for show training to not have their time wasted. Ok you can jump down my throat now, or bring in your trolls to do it
J...
I'm not interested in show training at all - someone way back mentioned SFE stuff and I jumped in and said I would be interested in that. Socialisation is not what I'm after - I'd like to do some high level proofing which I can't do with known people and known dogs. If people aren't interested or I'm treading on toes - well sorry to interrupt. Edited February 2, 2010 by Jess.
