J...
I'm still interested in doing some obedience stuff - just for the sake of a different environment and SFE's with strangers. Also good for my youngster to learn to work in different environments with different dogs around. Edited January 31, 2010 by Jess.

Guest Pandii
Were the min pins on when you were watching them RJ. I dont want to do obedience just show training for who ever asked, I can do obedience its the show training I need help with. Was it Sue from Rakaaz rotweilers that went out for dinner, I had time for a quick chat but missed talking to SWAY. I did catch up with JJ WEIA, Tenties and a few others though. Riley James
There was A Min pin in the ring but it was for Group not breed. I think it was puppy or junior. No it wasnt Sue from Razaak it was Sue with Dane who was with Sway. I am happy to do some obedience as I find show training is also a part of obedience with the stand and wait, and the hands on stuff is good for all dogs. Also good for the dogs attention to have to work with others around that are NOT doing the same. Which reminds me that I will have to bring at hat to training as there was a jusge wearing a hat and I noticed it did put some of the dogs off when he was doing the hands on stuff. So if someone is happy to wear it and go over my boy for me I would be greatful. But it would prob be good for all the dogs to have someone wearing a hat go over them. Oh and your going to laugh but a skirt is something that I am aware that he is very unsure of. (hhmmm note to ones self maybe better start wearing skirts) Hey TLC want to walk today?????? Guest Pandii
I wouldnt have thought a hat or a skirt would put a dog off, but I suppose it could happen. But I'm not going to offer to wear a hat RJ it squashes my hair an happy to wear a skirt if that helps you.
tlc
Hey TLC want to walk today??????Janet No thanks you talk to much!! In regards to the hat thing, Cooper used to go balistic everytime he come across a person with a hat on, even me, I never used to wear hats but I do now. anyway we did some intensive work with him, like different people with hats etc and even strangers in the park as they were his biggest problem and he seems to have come out of it now. he also had a fear of Men but seems to be a lot better of late (touch wood) he doesnt carry on with strange men like he used to, I woudnt get complacent about it and am very aware of this problem with him but he seems to have mellowed a bit as he has gotten a bit older, my BIL even commented the other day that Cooper has turned into a sook I was annoyed at that!! We've had either judges or co-competitors with these up in Qld back when I was training & trialling my Boxer, Rocky.HTH? -WithEverythingIAm
tlc
That is really good thinking, one of my girls used to be petrified of anything with wheels, ( she had a fright as a pup) not good when going to nursing homes!! All good now after a bit of desensitizing. What is HTH? Edited February 1, 2010 by tlc

Cheers Janet I actually saw a lady in the ring on the weekend with a walking frame. I thought it was a bit strange actually - couldn't someone have run the dog around the ring for her? She was going about 1m every 5 seconds, and I reckon her "running the dog around the ring" she travelled about 6m in total? I felt kinda bad for her - I don't know anything about showing, but if I had a VicDogs membership, I would have offered to do it for her.We were lucky with the wheelchair, as that person was in our Dog obedience club, so Rocky got really used to the sound of the motorised wheelchair, and VERY steady in his downstays, not even moving his head to look at it when we left. -WithEverythingIAm
J...
RJ the hat is a great idea - some dogs don't give a stuff but some do. Happy to wear a peak hat or a brimmed hat - will leave the skirt wearing to Pandii, I don't even own one. ;) Anyone up for doing group stays? Guest Pandii
The skirt will depend on if I ride my bike or not Do you think we should run two lots of classes, on for obedience and one for showing????
