Merry Christmas and happy new year to all!!

Tlc, great pics but why does Coop look so sad in the last one?? Hope they all got nice things....

Happy birthday to Munchin for the 23rd....

I had my Chrissie a day late due to the ship resupply taking a day longer, you can see a story in The Age about it (http://www.theage.com.au/national/christmas-is-a-moveable-feast-at-casey-base-20091225-lf2t.html). We had a great day, even though it was weird to be away from family, it still felt very Chrismassy :(

I will be away now for a few weeks at a field camp where I will not have www (or a shower or proper toilet!) so I won't be in touch again until I get back on or around the 16th January.

So, have a great new year everyone and all the best for 2010

Oh Maws, you probly wont see this now till you get back, glad to hear you had a nice Chrissy even though you were away from home. No shower or proper toilet sounds gross but Im guessing it will be totally worth it for what you are doing!! Not sure why Coop looked sad in the photo, he seems to go all hang dog as soon as I bring the camera out indoors?? Its just like oh here we go again :o and yes they all got too many doggy pressys and were very spoilt and we all had a great day!! Look forward to hearing more of your adventures once you are back on line, thinking of you in the cold hope your staying warm!!

Hi Tanya, We walked past your house the other night and Bronson was thought he would leave you a present right in the middle of your drive way  but I told him :) that he was a bad doggie and that is the sort of present you would not appreciate and promptly got the poop bags out and picked it up. :( A few more meters and we would have been at the park, he just couldnt help himself!!

A belated Merry Christmas and Happy new year to everyone!!!

Unfortunately I have some sad news to share about Eddie. While I was away in Tassie, my sister had to make the very tough and emotional decision to return Eddie to the shelter. She tried to shut off all avenues of escape for Eddie as he continued to try and find a way out of the backyard but after 3 days of laying down chicken wire and placing heavy bricks on top of that around the whole fence line, she also discovered some other issues that were not so easy to fix. It seems that Eddie, while initially playful with Jane, became more and more territorial and would force Jane into the bushes in the yard and not let her come out. At the same time she noticed that he had a pronounced limp in his foreleg and was infact on three legs each evening.

Needless to say, she took him to our vet to get his stitches out from his desexing and at the same time asked that they check his leg...she was assuming that he had injured it in one of his escape attempts.

It took the vet only a few minutes to see that Eddie had a long term injury to his front shoulder. It had happened long enough ago that he had quite obvious(to a vet) muscle waistage and would require long term rest to see IF it had a chance to get better with a high possibility that it may not.

So...maybe Eddie was escaping due to the need to get away from Jane. Maybe Eddies chance of a good life was not in a home with another dog of Jane's high energy levels.

I feel very guilty that we made a committment to this little guy that we could'nt live up to but I also feel upset that Eddies injury was'nt picked up by not only the shelter but also by the vets who desexed him before he came home to us. There is noway known we would have got him had we known of this injury before hand as we are well and truely aware of Jane's energy levels.

So sadly Eddie is back at the shelter BUT with more information about his needs in the hope that he will get a home where he will be an only dog so that his injury has a chance to heal and hopefully with someone who is at home MOST of the time so he can have the quiet company he so abviousily needs.

I feel so very very sad for Eddie but I know my sister was an emotional wreck and heartbroken and had to make this decision alone as I was out of contact range while all this was going on. Had I been here, MAYBE things would be abit different as I would have probably tried to rehome him privately, but I fully support her as I believe she made the best decision she could at the time.

Hi Tez, So sorry to hear about Eddie, it sure sounds like your sis did everything in her power to do the right thing by him. Lets hope they find him another home soon. Dont beat yourself up that you werent there to help out because it sounds like from the problems he had that the outcome would have been the same anyway.

Apart from the drama with Eddie how was your holiday and your Christmas and New years? Hope you had a nice time away and enjoyed every minute of it.

Hi Tlc...Thanks for your kind thoughts about Eddie. I'm keeping my fingers crossed he finds a home more suitable for him!

The Tassie trip was great...except for the first day. Had my car window smashed in and my bag stolen while we were exploring a limestone cave. So long story short (after my last long post) I was out a grand total of $1200 BEFORE we even got to our first nights accommadation. The next morning, while I was driving back to Devonport to sort things out re banks and repairs to the car, my travelling companion had her hiking boot stolen by some cheeky animal(or bird) at cradle Mountain. She had left her boots outside the cabin. Apparently this often happens. Luckily, after a good hour of searching, we found her boot about 200 metres away in the bush!

BTW Tlc...I love your new siggy!!!

Seems all has gone quiet on the Warrnambool front.

maybe everyone is on holidays!!!!!!!!!!!

Well we have our land subject to selling the house we are in.

And the standard are coming out next week to take pics for one of the houses of the week.

So it will be one of the feature houses.

So fingers crossed it sells.

Then we will have 7 acres to run around on :cry::shrug::idea:

TLC and I Took Sniffy (and Lacey and Bronson) to the beach today and he had lots of fun running and swimming around and swallowing lots of water (His first time of actually swimming)

Thought he was going to puke all the way home but didnt yay

Tez so sad to hear about Eddie but you have to do what you have to do.

And sounds like he will be better off in a 1 dog household.

Ok I better go I have lots of cleaning and sorting out to do with this house being in the paper :) next week.

Cheers Janet

Sorry all, just couldnt be bothered getting on the comp lately......i got my entries off for Warrnambool and Ladybay, they might get returned yet will have to wait and see ?????? i also sent a couple of entries off for Ballarat as i do every year, i love going to that show......( thanks JJ for the offer of your mag but i got one before i read your message sorry )

About this show training, in Geelong we had it on Monday Mornings so it didnt interfere with anyone going to shows, we had a brag session where the trainers would ask each person what shows they went too on the weekend and what the result was for them..... we also had morning tea at training with each person bringing something to share ( dont have to ) we started at 10:30 and finished at 12:00 show training in Geelong was never just for show dogs , it was for all dogs and was very good for socialising , we had people with pets as well as obedience dogs come along, only diff is that Geelong was started by Judges Warrnambool by us , JJ knows what he is doing and i have been showing for almost 30 yrs we can do something to help each other and it will be FREE .....that is why the training in Geelong was started because everywhere else was charging an arm and a leg for what ??? a go around 2 to 3 times and tell you nothing ?? our training will involve giving suggestions on troubles the owner may be having as well as advising owners of show animals what looks and works best for them in the ring

If you want to come and improve things in the ring or at home then by all means come everyone is welcome.

Linda........
