Not sure - I would probably try ringing "All Natural Vets" at Russel Lea and asking them.

www.naturalvet.com.au or 9712 5844

Please let us know if you do.

Thanks heaps  . They told me the costs: the blood test (lab fee) is $99 + the consult fee of $79.50. So total is $180 ( well $178.5 to be precise :( ).

In Brisbane I was able to get the consult + titer test for $70.

That's more expensive than I thought, especially for the consult fee. I'd be ringing around as well - try phoning Sylvania Vet Clinic & also Heathcote Vet Clinic (at Heathcote). There is another vet clinic at Kirrawee, I think on the Highway or President Ave.

Any vet can titre test as all labs offer it. It's just a matter of finding one who sends the blood directly to VetPath in WA, otherwise you end up paying more because the other labs charge their fee for handling the blood and sending it on.

Has anyone recently titer tested their dog in Sydney area?

I have been quoted $180 and I am hoping someone knows a better option than this.

I did call about 10 vets, most of them never heard of it and were unwilling to investigate further :)

Did you call Gladesville?

I know they do it.

I Luv Amstaffs has already posted that it's cheaper than your quote.

I called St Ives, as it seemed even cheaper than Gladesville. The St Ives one is:

"The total cost to have a blood test done for distemper and parvovirus will be $167.20.

This includes a standard consultation ($55) and the blood test itself ($112.20)."

:)

btw Gladesville is supposed to call me back with the quote too.

Why is it that vets seem unwilling to be proactive? Is it because they worry about losing out on the fees for vaccs?

I would think they would want to be following updates on vaccination protocols. I am sure I read somewhere that the American Veterinary Association has re-issued protocols with a recommendation for a 3 year regime for certain vaccs?

My vet raised their eyebrows when I told them I didn't want the Proheart 12 injection.

Laffi - post to the oz-obedience list and see if somebody can recommend a vet, or has had one done recently.

Penny the vet is in WA at the moment for an AADA Trial, and not sure where she operates from, but she may do it?
