Vet Fees

Basically I'm just wanting to know prices for a few vet services just to see how the prices vary from state to state and also between regions of different states.

So I'm asking for the following:

1. State/region eg. Sydney- North Shore

2. Consult fee

3. Desexing fee - male/female and weight

4. Dental costs - whether was a scale and polish or teeth pulled etc.

This isn't a vet bashing thread either about whether or not the fees are too much - I just want to see the variance of prices over Australia.

Victoria- Melbourne

Consult- $30.15

Desexing- done prior to getting them

Dental- never had it done on dogs before

However i have had dental done on a rabbit which was filing down back teeth and polish which costed around $198 in December, no teeth removed.

Brisbane

Consult $20 - $45

Desexing $180 - $320 for a large breed.

Dental - varies very widely because some vets have specialised equipment and training and some do not.

Basic dental with no extractions $140-$280

We put our work through a few different vets, and the above prices are the normal rates for some of the vets that we use.

Northern Victoria

consult fee $50-

Desex 3mth old male $180-

Desex 8 mth old bitch $250- and up (18kg) I rang all the local vets getting prices, some were tricky and the quote did not cover aftercare, one didn't evern cover the cost of the anestetic. (That would be added to the cost dependant on what was used) all quotes were subject to change (Ie if the vet was in the dog for longer for some reason)

never had dental done
