Daxilly
Hi, Just picked up a brochure on the Skudo. It is suppose to repel ticks and fleas using ultra-sonic impulses. It is inaudible to humans and animals but can be heard by ticks and fleas. Has anybody used it and what was it like? Thanks.
sas
http://www.miteyfresh.com.au/page/skudo_ti...r_for_pets.html Skudo Electronic Tick Repeller for dogs and cats Your family and pets will just love you for this! Safe for puppies, kittens, pregnant or older pet Lasts up to one whole year Non Toxic Efficient Convenient Environmentally friendly no chemicals or odours Skudo Electronic Tick Repeller is a small weather proof device which delivers harmless ultrasonic pulses intolerable to ticks and fleas, but completely undetectable by pets and humans. Skudo has a convenient small collar attachment and is powered by a lithium battery that lasts up to one year. Because there are no chemicals or toxins, Skudo is perfect for chemical sensitive pets especially older, sick, pregnant or lactating animals and of course, puppies and kittens. It is completely harmless to humans. Tested & proven by Professor Genchi at the University of Milan, Italy, Faculty of Parasitology in 1992. Further studies conducted by Professor Doctor Giselle Zoccal Mingoti at the State University Paolista, St Paul, Brazil Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Currently Mitey Fresh is sourcing testing here in Australia, particularly for the paralysis tick. "Years ago I loved to garden then the area became invested with ticks and I become extremely ill almost every time I walked into the garden because I seemed to attract any tick within 10 metres. Once I was in bed for several days. "Before I was using the repeller, I would get one or more ticks on me every time I even walked into the garden. The only way I sometimes beat them was to cover up with gum boots, a hooded plastic raincoat, a hat and plastic washing up gloves. This was not much fun, especially on hot days. Even so one might slip under all the layers. Since I started using the repeller, I have been gardening almost every day. I have gradually discarded all the plastic. Now I wear a hat but have bare feet, bare legs and arms. "I know the ticks are still in the garden because my son is still finding them on our dog and it has cost us yet another $220 in veterinary fees...it's just fantastic to be able to go back in the garden." Mrs Meghan S. Mona Vale NSW Skudo is available nationally from pet stores and grooming salons. Your family and pets will just love you! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To maximise protection, particularly if you live in a tick infested area, Skudo can be used in conjunction with other products. In areas of severe infestation, Skudo cannot be guaranteed to provide 100% protection. Check your animal regularly, regardless of which product you use. For flea control, we also recommend that you control your outside environment as much as possible and treat areas around pet's bedding, house and garden. For personal protection against ticks, visit Mighty Tick-Off. For livestock protection against tick please contact Mitey Fresh. We welcome feedback from people using Skudo to assist future development. As a result of your fantastic feedback, a new device has been launched in August 07 with additional features. Did you know that... A human can hear around 20, 000hz, a dog can hear around 27,000 hz and a tick or flea can hear around 40,000hz. Nature is truly amazing! Therefore all of us, as well as pets, cannot hear Skudo Electronic Tick Repeller. The effect of sound waves do travel through walls, in much the same way you hear a stereo. Naturally, the sound waves diminish with distance and floor to floor if you are considering attaching the device to the pet's bedding. Paralysis ticks (lxodes holocyclus) are found on the eastern seaboard, from North Queensland to Northern Victoria. In the northern parts of Australia, paralysis ticks may be found all year round, while in the southern areas, the season begins in spring and finishes in late autumn. Paralysis ticks are found on animals that live in or near thick bushland whether native or domestic.
chuckie500
In my opinion if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Clyde
I have clients who use them and swear by them. Although I do still find the odd flea on some of these dogs I don't find ticks. I bought one to try, but just couldn't risk a tick slipping through. I don't think I could ever rely solely on a Skudo for ticks.
