morgan
Does anyone know of a kennel in or near southwest Sydney that doesn't insist on C5s? Friends are stuck as the place they used for years was ok with C3s but has changed hands. Their vet rang the new owner and begged, saying that the dog would probably be killed by another C5 due to reactions and health issues, but the bloke was adamant and now they can't find anyone to board their dog with. As he is a large, busy terrier they don't want someone just coming around and feeding him.
WildatHeart
Get a tirtre test done and find a kennel that will accept that(providing the results showed he'd have resistace or wahtever it is they show, im sure someone will correct me), then you would need to get a c5

morgan
I do know of kennels that accept C3s, but they are not in Sydney. Others that have C5s on their websites will accept C3s in certain situations, like this dog, where the vet believes that another C5 would kill him. Their vet will happily do the titre testing if we can find somewhere that will accept it. Seems crazy to me - having seen KC epidemics where the C5 dogs mostly caught it while barely any C3 dogs did, despite being in adjoining kennels :D

OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, where people get strange compulsions - washing hands, checking light switches, organising things by colour, alphabet etc. My little compulsion is a mild one about types and colours of pegs hanging out the washing, but I can so understand needing to reorganise the letters of OCD according to the alphabet Thought it was clever at the time.... Greytmate
You don't have to give the dog C5 injection. It just needs the nasal drops for the Kennel cough. Some of our vets don't use the C5 at all. They just give the C3 plus the nasal drops and that equals the C5. Boarding kennels accept the certificates as C5. Staff'n'Toller
A lot of our small dog clients use a canine nanny these days, it's very popular here to be sending your dog to a house situation instead of a kennel. We have a couple of companies that have people work for them with insurance and police checks etc, then some others who freelance as such. It would pay to look at other alternatives- down here the canine nannies are not much more than the daily boarding rate.
