Lump On Rib Cage

Hi all,

My 8 month old MalteseX Shihtzu has a lump about the size of a 10c piece near his rib cage.

I automatically thought the worst and took him to the vet straight away and they took a cell from it and said that it looked fatty.

Ralph is going back in two weeks to get it checked out to see if it needs to be removed.

Has anyone else had any problems and been a worried as I am??? I am just a worry wort when it comes to my babies.

The vet said it was abnormal because he is 8 months old, but my friend has a husky, and he has had them and he's a similar age.

I think I just need something to put my mind at ease, I can't help but keep checking him and making sure he is functioning ok and playing and eating.

Help please!

it is rather early for a dog to be getting fatty lumps. We saw a lot of little fluffies come through the clinic when older, fatty lumps every where. Poodles, maltese, crosses, etc had them and we always took a fine needle aspirate (where they suck some cells out with a needle and look under the microscope) to make sure it wasnt anything serious.

keep an eye one it, but dont fiddle with it too much. You end up stressing yourself out :mad
