BittyMooPeeb
My 13 week old pup has developed small, scabby spots on his right hand side, from the bottom of his armpit to his chin. My dogs have never had fleas, so I haven't treated him since the breeder did (5 weeks ago), but the flea bits I have seen on fosters dont look like this. He was vaccinated last week, but I only noticed the spots in the last few days. I cant think of what else might have caused them. Any ideas? Yesterday they were only under his armpit, and today they have spread to his chin, and they are scabby already Edited January 22, 2009 by BittyMooPeeb

BittyMooPeeb
Hot spots? Dont think so, as they are very small spots. Contact allergy? Possible, but he is quite fluffy, so I dont know how the contact could have been made, nor why it is getting worse but only on one side.
Nekhbet
canine acne or follicilitis? I'd get a vet check and some antibiotics if it is thats a pain to clear otherwise.
BittyMooPeeb
I took Magic to the vet. He has a skin infection . The vet said it usually occurs when dogs are left wearing dirty harnesses for a long time . Trouble is, Magic has NEVER worn a harness that goes in his armpits, and he has NEVER been left on anything dirty for a long period of time! So maybe it could have been caused by the heat?? Still funny it is in one spot. And it has spread again today further up his chin, but the bits in his armpit have healed. so he has antibiotics and instructions to bathe him in Pyrohex. I have a product from Eqyss that claims to get rid of skin infections, so I will try that first as it is not harsh on the skin like Pyrohex is.
