Hasanyone done a course for Photoshop? The local college is offering a beginners course which runs for 8 weeks, $265 ( 3 hours once a week) Do you think this type of course would be beneficial for a numby like myself? Also does anyone know of any courses etc or have done any courses on how to use your camera? As some of you may know I have a 40D canon and want to learn more but dont really understand the book I am more of a hands on learner if you know what I mean

The course is probably good value - but I'd suggest also look for your nearest camera clubs (photographic societies) they are only around $50 to join. And they usually run free basic classes for beginner groups for both camera work and photoshop work. Beginners are welcomed, you don't need to be an experienced photographer to join.

I'd make sure that the course is aimed at what you want to learn in photoshop - there's a big difference in what you have to know for photography versus digital artwork etc etc.

The full Photoshop can actually be overkill for some people.

A beginner could look at the full Photoshop program with its

bells and whistles and feel they need to do a course to get

a grasp of even the basics.

You can google, read books, lurk here etc but a classroom

situation (and out on field trips) can be a great way to learn.

As lessons/conversations progress you can often pick up

interesting tips too.

Yes see I am not much of a reader, even at school I was a visual learner lol. I want to know how to operate my camera to the extent it can be used and also how to make pretty pics after I download them as in making a siggy, taking 5 photos and making them into one, how to add things to a pic like on a xmas card for instance having a pic of my dog and adding a tree, tinsel etc.
