I gave Buster one and Mac one last night, neither had a clue what to do with them. Mac was scared of hers lol.

I ended up cooking them into stock, grabbing the bits of meat I coul for the cat and keeping the stock to put over thier biscuits every once in a while.

Atleast they didn't go to waste.

Hahaha yes the first time I gave them to my boys, Hudson scoffed his straight down (he is a guts though and eats anything!) but Zephyr just stared and sniffed at it for ages. He'd look at it, then look at me, then look back at the fish, then finally give me this pitiful look that seemed to say "MUUUUUUUM! What am I meant to do with this thing? It still has eyes!" :( He soon learnt to shut up and eat it though when the ever-hungry Hudson came to investigate why this fishy wasn't being digested yet  Zephyr is so like that, may not eat something until he sees Hudson eat it first, or sees that Hudson wants it!)

Yeah, that's normal.

Get some entire fish, scale them and lop off the head and run them under hot water. Do this for a few fish then stop running them under hot water (to slightly cook the flesh), take it slowly and don't move to the next stage till they are eating. Then just eventually stop scaling and stop loping off the head and then they are fine.

I taught Axle to eat them like this. Montu is just so food oriented that he'll eat entire unscaled fish without any coaching.

Fox ate his very first raw salmon head, but then refused the next, wrinkling his nose with distaste at the slimy skin.

Next time I offered it frozen solid and he ate it happily without a thought and has ever since. He prefers all his fish frozen as fishcicles...

My first dog (Nicky - Cavy) was, and my other dog (Hope - Koolie) and my sister's dog (Bean - Staffie) are happy to eat theirs raw.
