Happyfish
I buy trim from the butchers. My butcher charges $8 a kg, but it is all fresh meat with no bones.

Tilly
I am so excited .... There is a new pet food store on Brisbane southside which specialise in Canine Country BARF, Bones / Raw Diet, Organic Chicken Products and fresh roo meat. They are located: Southside Pet Food, 908 Beaudesert Road, Coopers Plains (3277 1026)Opening hours are: Tuesday to Friday - 9am to 5pm; Saturday 8:30am to 12:30pm and Closed on Mondays.Their prices are on a par to Lotsa Pet Foods that was at Woodridge ... Well ... this place didn't last long. They have now closed due to "a change in family circumstances" ... Have spoken to the guys are Park Ridge Produce (3688 Mt Lindsay Highway, Park Ridge - 3297 1155) - they do have Canine Country but currently they have limit supplies (small freezer) - they are looking at getting more freezer space in the future. They are happy to order it in and if you call them by Tuesday morning (when they order) ... it will be in the store on the Wednesday morning (I think around 10ish). I find these guys are wonderful - nothing is too much trouble for them. Edited February 20, 2012 by Tilly

mumof4girls
Produce store at Browns Plains sells Canine Country. I brought out their freezer last week. They didn't have the range of varieties on hand but are happy to order for you. They make sure to get Canidae in for me on a regular basis. The guys are extremely helpful :) Tilly is this produce store the pet store like pet barn ( I can't remember the name) across the road a bit from the shopping centre.. HaughtyMcNaughty
TAS (Northern Tas) Boxes of chicken frames are $7- for 10kg available from Aussie Discount Meats (Racecourse Cres & Kings Meadows stores). Turkey Wings & drumsticks avail all year round at Woolworths in King Meadows (about $4.95 kg) Lamb ribs & bones available from Lethborg's Butchers at Killafaddy Farmyard chicken (Racecourse crescent in the mall opposite Coles) sell chicken necks & frames in bulk as well as chicken mince (with the bone ground through it). Their chic products are more expensive than the butchers but their chicken is hormone & growth promotant free! We also look for specials and buy in bulk when items are available and freeze - things like chicken livers, beef & lamb hearts etc. Also Northern Pet Meat Supplies is good at 115 Vermont Rd Mowbray. Ph 6339 3754. Beef, mutton roo, possum - whole, pieces & minced. Everything is preservative & additive free. They also make their own dried treats (pigs ears, roo tails, beef chews etc). HaughtyMcNaughty
Would turkey shank be a good cut to give my two. Is it a soft type of bone? Thanks. Turkey shanks and wings are a good, nutritious raw, meaty bone and are a soft type of bone, which they can easily crunch up. I have 2 dogs: a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Cocker Spaniel and they both enjoy turkey wings and drumsticks as part of their regular diet. weski
The info for Northern Tassie is very well timed for me, our puppy arrives in the next week or so. I had been wondering where to source fresh meat. Have you ever used Swift meats?
HaughtyMcNaughty
Is that the wholesaler at Longford? I have years ago - it's not near me but I know a few who buy here and recommend it - including breeders. No ... actually I am an idiot ... Browns Plains / Park Ridge is the same thing to me. They are actually called Park Ridge Produce and they are located at 3688 Mt Lindsay Highway. Coming from Calamvale, I come off Beaudesert Road/Mt Lindsay Highway and turn into Green Road and then take the next right which takes you along a small road that runs parallel to the Mt Lindsay Highway. It is located between Green Road and Kantenna St (closer to Kanteena St). Edited March 14, 2012 by Tilly

Have some more info re "Swifts" at Longford. They're now called JBL and sell beef, lamb and pork products. Apparently they process 98% of the carcass, which is pretty good, compared to a lot of other butchers! I guess this means that there's not a lot of wastage and that they sell a lot of stuff that other butchers don't - great for the doggies! I guess it depends what you're looking for. You just need to ask!
