Hi guys , One of our Maremmas is loosing the black pigment around his eyes and nose and also his lips. He is only 4 yo and always had black skin .

I am booking him into see the vet ,but thought i would ask here first as he is not a good traveler.

Has anyone had any experience with this and what could be the cause ?

Thanks

this link below may be a start.

also some maremma ppl have said they think it could be caused by copper deficiency.. but maybe a blood tests can confirm if this is the case.

some of my guys have pinkish noses from time to time but it seem to correct itself. also irritation by midges also causes some to get pink around the eyes and the nose. I have not noticed the lip area becoming pink tho
