Chihuahua Question?

No way could I let Sophie graze either, and I don't want Huey to be overweight so there will no grazing for him. About 25 years ago we had two Chis and they lived on Goodos. Their bowl would always contain Goodos and if it was empty, Pancho (Chi) would scratch in it to tell me. They were never overweight. And the other one, Ben, lived until 15 1/2. Not a bad record for a diet of Goodos. There was not as much emphasis on correct dog food way back then.

Anyway, I am going to buy some digital scales so I can start Sophie's "weigh ins".

Wish me luck.

My Tiffany and Lola get 50gms each. Marshall gets 60gms. It also depends on what gets given during the day I find these amounts are just right for them. When I am dieting them, they get 10gms less.

Depends on their mix too.

Chicken necks. 2-3 small necks. Marshall would eat 5-6. and I mean they are small. Tiny infact. Have they gotten smaller lately or what?

Sounds like the chicken necks out your way are different to here, TA! Where I buy them from, they have been quite big lately.

Bonnie gets one per day on chicken neck days. Depending on it's size, she also gets eagle pack biscuits to make up the rest of her meal (ranging from none to 1/2 a cup).

I must take more care when buying them from the deli section, one neck the other week was so big I was concerned she wouldn't be able to manage it.....she did of course, it just took a few mintues longer. She did look at me a bit funny as if to say "Is THIS my dinner? What the? am I supposed to do with it?" :)

I also have this problem but with a Yorkie. I can free feed the other yorkies but miss piggy only has to look at food and she gains weight.

She should be around the 1.5 kilo as that suits her but she is currently 2.1 kilos so needs to loose a bit.

Its hard when I have others that are quite lean and if I dont free feed them they loose weight quickly.

If they are separated they pin for each other.. Cant win

...Add a pudgy pap to the mix here...he was 7 kg :o and should be around the 5 tp 5.5 kg mark. He looks like a weird long haired corgi :) He really stacked it on when he was desexed. Last weigh in he had lost 300 grams :mad but that took months to do. I try to feed him one total bone only meal a week, and the rest of his meals are about 80- 90 grams of diet dry or meat.

My other pap is 5 kg on the nose and even tho a finer dog, he is the right weight and eats like a horse. He could actually do with an extra 200 grams or so on, but it isn't going to happen; he is just too active lol

My terrier x eats what he wants and hasn't strayed from the 10 kg mark ( which is a perfect weight for him) since he was a pup.

It is really hard to whack the weight off them; hell I cant get it off myself!

Tazer gets one chicken neck for breakfast, maybe a dozen bits of kibble in his bowl for lunch, 1 desertspoonful of raw mince & veg mix for dinner. Sometimes he eats it all sometimes not. He often gets a few treats in the evening from my son when he is playing & training him - maybe a little roast chicken/kibble/biscuit. He weighs about 2.7kg I think (will check a little later). He is pretty trim and fit.
