yep its exactly like that. Ruger is too stupid, but Fly knows when Im even thinking about going somewhere...

YES!! All I had to do was *think* about taking Scrimp and Lil with me the other day, for Scrimp to later (as I was about to leave) bark at me as if to say, "well? Aren't we coming?"... gah!

I always think it's important to teach your dogs to be alone by themselves, even if you don't ever think they will *need* to be on their own.

Start small - so pop a crate inside or start with a dog outside and a dog in - reward the dog outside or seperated from you for not chucking a tanty while you are working with the other one. Gives the one inside some special training with you (perhaps some training for Fly) and also helps them settle when they are separated.

As others have said - leave the one at home with a tasty treat that will take a while to eat (pigs ear, RMB) as chewing will amuse them and reduce stress. Don't make a huge fuss when you return and if need be, don't let the dogs re-unite as soon as you come home either.

PM me if you want more - I have a handout that may help too

Do you have any tips on how to leave one in a crate or tethered while working with the other, without it carrying on like a pork chop waiting for its turn? :mad

 RS - I own Aussies - I swear it's a breed disposition that the louder and harder you can chuck a tanty when one dog is out training, the better you are :rofl:

I got lots of tips for that one.... but sorry - no tips on how to get the sad, neglected, RSPCA case look off their face when you are training the other

Bugger!! :p I'm just wondering how I can take both to a trial without being kicked off the grounds for my dog disturbing those in the ring! Didn't want to have to leave them in the car, it's not really equipped for that sorta thing!

I tethered Millie for a few weeks at training while Ruby had her class and the nooooise :whip: Leaving a tasty chew didn't interest her. Had to then start shoving her back in the car and you could still hear her. One day I left her strapped in the back and the front window just over half way down, and I look up and she's half hanging out the front window barking her head off :p At least I can leave Ruby with a chew... once it's gone, then she starts whining a little!
