Ravyk
My dog is walking around with head on the side and keeps shaking his head side to side like hes trying to dislodge something. I had a quick look in his ear-it looks a bit red compared to his other ear-but its also the ear that was tattooed [a few days ago when he was desexed] could he have an ear infection? Colliewood
It is possible, does he have an elizabethan collar on? Could it be that? Might be worth checking if you think it is related to the tattoo
Ravyk
he is wear one of the bucket collars yes. apparently he was walking with his head on one side before the operation [he was desexed on the 29th]
Clyde
Did you mention it to the vet then? I would definitely take the dog back asap to have his ear checked. If he was walking with his head on one side prior to his desexing then it seems unlikely it's from the tattoo. If he continues to shake his head around he is at risk of getting a haematoma which can sometimes be a pain to be rid of or require surgery. Obviously it's uncomfortable for him too. With any luck the vet will have a quick squiz and tie it in as a revisit to avoid a full consult fee. :D
Ravyk
the vet said she would look in his ear while he was under the anethestic-i presume she did and i presume there wasnt anything there because she didnt mention it to me when i picked him up. he has stopped doing it this morning so I think thats a good sign-i think it might just have been the tattoo, but i'll check later when I take off the bucket collar for awhile [he hates it majorly]
