fbaudry
it might just be a case of her getting used to them; when I got my cocker pup, he was 4 months and had only ever eaten kibble. He loved his first chicken neck but the subsequent poos were pretty much like you described.... so we let him settle back with just kibble, then started introducing cooked chicken a little bit, then increase the amount of chicken and have it less and less cooked as time went by. He is now fine with raw chicken necks, raw mince, etc on top of his regular kibble. Hope this helps! PS where are the pics?
Cockerlover
posibly the neck ?keep an eye on her ,vet visit if not inproved after witholding food for 12 hrs . also when giving chicken necks it is advisable to cut them up, as some dogs swalow them whole & they r not digested correctly. Ashka
I always freeze raw food including chicken necks for at least a week before feeding them. Even so I have had the odd batch that caused tummy upsets. Always buy human grade, very fresh chicken necks, they are great for keeping Cavs teeth in good condition and stopping any anal gland problems. I've not found a Cav pup of even 6 weeks who couldn't manage a chicken neck, holding on to one end of it teaches pup to crush it up ~ dogs can't chew They can't move their jaws sideways.. She is teething so i am trying to help her by getting her to chew stuff but she isnt interested in anything other then the necks
muddles
our beagle pup loves her chicken necks - we freeze them too as otherwise they are gone in less than a minute, and being frozen makes them last longer - also in summer is something nice and cool I also freeze them inside an ice block (e.g put one in old butter container and fill with water) to make a chicken neck-sicle - keeps her busy for ages and again is nice and cool for summer
julesluvscavs
Hi staff&cav Hope your puppy is doing ok now? I would have thought she might be too young for chicken necks yet? But I'm not experienced with feeding puppies anyway so I wouldn't know.. Are you able to ask her breeder for advice as well? sometimes puppies are sensitive with their tummys when they leave their mums. I know Joey was a bit sickly when we first got him just from change of environment. Congratulations on your new puppy ! dead sheep
both my boys, from the same breeder, were on chicken necks from about 3 weeks old. If a dog has teeth, it will be able to eat a chicken neck.
