I thought I would share with you what happened tonight.

I was in my bedroom putting away all the laundry when I noticed my very cheeky Westie, Miley digging at the pillows on my bed. Next thing I know, she has pulled out the skanky dirty chicken wing that I gave her this morning from under my pillow! And there was dirt all under the blankets! Not happy!

This was an hour after I noticed she had buried raw lamb meat in between the cushions on the brand new leather lounge, which she proceeded to do a second time after I caught her! My fault, shouldnt have given it back to her.

Dont leave me hanging guys, does anyone elses pup do the same?

Not a nice surprise.

It is the reason I will not give my dog bones or such unless I am able to watch him eat it. If I am not there he is likely to hide it under the bed somewhere and I will not know until the smell starts to come and by that time I do not want to go anywhere near it.

My dogs don't they eat them straight away. But quite a few years ago was visiting my sister in law. She has a mini poodle. Each time I sat in one particular lounge chair I could smell something very unpleasant. I'd sit down, say something stinks here, walk away, come back. This happened about 3 times & we lifted the cushion to see what it could be. There was a manky lamb chop burried under the cushion. Yuk!!!!

This is the number reason why my guys are not allowed bones inside. They can bury them wherever they like outside! The garden is full of them! Our youngest pup will run towards the door, sit, drop her bone and wait to be let inside. :) They know the rules!!

Aren't they funny how they do that!!

No.. i think it's a bit sad... that today's dogs spend so much time indoors that burying food treasures in furniture is their version of 'normal'

Our guys never have any meat/bones indoors.. all outside, with the doors shut!

Same here... I've never even thought of giving Halle a bone or anything to chew inside. She enjoys laying spread eagle on the grass when she is chewing a bone lol. And its just gross!

Not a bone story but pure embaressment  A lot of years ago the Minister came to visit and chat about getting my youngest child baptised. Sitting in the lounge having a cuppa when in trots my young Affie with a large pack of sanitary napkins in his mouth and promptly presented them to the Minister :) The :) was much later after I recovered

My dog Jessie will not eat a bone outside...she will only go into the backyard if she follows someone out there. If we call her out there or show her food/a bone, she gets scared, hides under the dining table and refuses to go outside. So we do let her eat bones inside, but luckily she does not 'bury' them anywhere in the house.

my family used to have a bitsa which when you gave her a bone, she would try to bury it in cement next to a tuft of grass growing between the cement and the house wall.. And if she seen you watching she would pick it up, run around with it and pretend shes looking for somewhere to bury it, wait until your not looking and try and bury it there again. If you were looking again she would repeat the process. :)

she also thought a maggot infested bone would look great on my mums rug! I almost threw up when I picked up the bone, it poured out maggots over the rug! :)

I'm with you, Persephone. My 6mo has learnt the rule of "no bones inside". He understands this now. I leave my doors open.

Bones inside? Yuck!!

Nothing worse than manky bones inside. My dog (nearly one) sneaks them inside if she thinks I'm not listening, then she's OUTSIDE! If it's raining, I let her eat her bone in her crate - with the door shut because apparently it will taste nicer if eaten on the rug. So most of the time when she has a bone the outside door is SHUT.

When my previous dog, a toy poodle had a bone he used to gum away at it having few teeth and being not really interested in bones, he would leave it and come inside after a short time. I would invariably forget to collect it later in the day, leaving it there for just in case he went back to it later. Learnt that lesson as I went into my son's room one day and sniffed "what smells??", nose led me to look under the bed there is the bone. Couldn't understand how it got there until I caught the cat dragging in another bone through the doggy/cat flap to stash away for later! She looked so proud of her kill!

Ivy eats her bones either outside or in the backroom until all the fat and meat is gone. Then when there is just bone she'll bring into the rest of the house and chew away. She's never buried bones, enjoys eating them too much I guess.

Think she knows no bones past the back door unless it's meat free!

yuck, i would never let my dogs eat bones inside :cheer: bit different if i didnt have a yard of any kind (and if inside, it would be in a crate), but no way! that is what outside is for!

They have had pigs ears inside once in a while, but that is also not on anymore, the can have stuff that they eat right away, but anything that has to touch the floor - outside!!

We've trained Sam so that he has his bones outside. I often open the laundry door to find one smack bang on the doorstep!
